6) My eyes shall [look with favor] upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; he who walks blamelessly, he shall minister to me.
Our job is based on serving others. It is based on ensuring that the we provide the best Member service to our membership, that is all together humanly possible. It was the same principle when I served in the United States Air Force. There is a dedication and commitment that comes with serving your country, serving your community, and even serving our families. Those that serve with valor and with dedication do so because they have a purpose and a drive that keeps them committed to the duties at hand. You can always tell those who are in a situation just for a pay check, recognition or to make a name for themselves rather than an inner satisfaction and a sense of duty and commitment. It is evident in the quality of service that they are able to provide.
When we chose to commit ourselves to the service of God there should be more of a commitment and a sense of duty than with any thing else. We should serve the Lord with gladness, and with a purpose to please Him and walk upright before Him. We should have an understanding that when we serve God we are being "allowed" to minister to Him. When we realize what that means then we are humbled and our commitment grows. We are honored by the chance to serve and we do it with pride and diligence, so that our service brings honor upon whom we serve and upon our offering.
How we serve distinguishes what is in our heart and it identifies why we are serving. We should know that everything we do should always have purpose and we should do all things as unto the Lord, not unto ourselves. Just as Christ lived a life that was one threaded in service, we should as well. Christ served here in the earth to reconcile us back to the Father and to bring Glory to God, are we doing the same? Does our service speak to whom we serve and why we serve, or just to what we hope to gain? It is time to get in step and find the cadence of our service.
