Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Friday 2/6/09)

Breathe, Stretch, Shake, Let It Go...

Matthew 10:12-14 (Amplified Bible)

12) As you go into the house, give your greetings and wish it well.

    13) Then if indeed that house is deserving, let come upon it your peace [that is, freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin]. But if it is not deserving, let your peace return to you.

    14) And whoever will not receive and accept and welcome you nor listen to your message, as you leave that house or town, shake the dust [of it] from your feet.

I was having a conversation with a friend at work and we were discussing issues that had been going on with her and the drama that seemed to be plaguing a particular area in her life.  As I listened I could hear the hurt, the confusion and the need to lash out.  My thought and my sentiment to her was if it is like that no need to take it to a realm of retaliation just let it be, walk away and let it go.  Let your heart and your mind rest in the fact that you know that you did what was right and that you took care of business and even if they do not see it or they do their do, you let it be done, and let God handle it. Retaliation is sometimes our greatest defeat.  It can cause our demise if we let it.  Sometimes our best defense is God's offense and not our own.  Sometimes it is just best to breath, stretch it out, shake the dust and the remnant of the mess off of us and let it go...

I have heard so many times people say I am going to make them pay for what they have done to me.  But in Romans 12:19 "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God's] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord." The pay back is not ours to give, we only need to take care of business by living a life acceptable to God and let God give the outcome and let him bring people to ruin and justice.  I was talking with my son about forgiveness, and we were talking about forgiving some people in His life that He is very angry at and He vows never to have anything to say to these people or to have any dealings with these people.  As I sat with Him and explained that whether he realized it or not that he needed to forgive for his own sake or he will be held captive for the his remaining days.  Captive to the hurt, anger and disappointment issued at the hands at those her trusted.  I reminded him that forgiveness is conditional, that in order for him to receive forgiveness that he would have to forgive those who had annihilated parts of his life.

God is greater than any revenge we can inflict on anyone that has hurt us.  We only need to trust what the word God says and know that God loves and cares for us and will take care for us and he will also take care of those who have hurt us and caused us pain.  We just need to breath, stretch, shake and let it GO!  Let it GO, for if you are holding on God cannot grab a hold and do what needs to be done!
