Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Friday 9/11/09)

Today’s Devotional Written From The Willing Heart Of Tracy Koweh

All In My Business?

Ephesians 5:7-12 (New Living Translation)

7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

I have no idea when this obsession with our cell phones came about, but a few weeks back I left mine at home and I couldn't think of anything else but what calls I was missing. I forgot to take it last Sunday to church, and could barely focus on God for thinking about my cell phone. The funny thing about it is that both times I got home to no missed calls. My ex-husband us to take his phone with him everywhere he went, from the kitchen, to the living room, to the bathroom and even from one couch to the next. My baby sister can't eat dinner without her text message notification going off 3 times a minute.

Now, I have this friend who has a password on his cell phone. Not that he has anything to hide, but it’s a way for him to maintain his privacy, a piece of his identity that no man or woman can invade, change or take away from him. Although, to those around him the password has been a source of secrecy, a sign of holding back, and a door for the enemy to use to plant seeds of doubt and mistrust- - -the password can be used as an illustration of how some of us live today.

There are things/secrets/hidden agendas in our souls that we have taken every where with us so the world won't discover them. We can't accidentally leave a trace behind because someone may pick up a small piece of evidence that could reveal what truly lies beneath the surface. Some of us are living behind a “password” and thinking no one has the code to unlock and reveal our true identities.

Today as we prepare to head into the weekend, let us remember that although we may be getting away with living a double life for a moment, God as a unique way of bringing everything to the light. Today let us choose to go before the Father, and allow Him to set us free from the bondage of our secrets so we may live a life where our business and His business...........are one and the same.
