Committed To The Cause…
1 Timothy 1:11-12 (Amplified Bible)
11As laid down by the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. 12I give thanks to Him Who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able [for this], Christ Jesus our Lord, because He has judged and counted me faithful and trustworthy, appointing me to [this stewardship of] the ministry.
Today as I walked in the door, I had already purposed in my heart to go directly to bed and not stop. I had told myself I was in refusal to sit and write the devotional tonight. I was exhausted, I had spent the entire day at the hospital, because my brother had to have an emergency appendectomy and some other health issues were discovered. I had only had about an hours sleep and I was mentally, emotionally and physically spent. My brain told the rest of me I had not one bit of energy left for anything to but to shower and pass out. As I walked in the house, and just as I reach the area where my computer is set up I heard “are you committed to the cause?” I said within myself “you have got to be kidding…I am tired.” But never the less here I sit…
How often can we hang out and do all we want to do, but when Sunday rolls around we are too tired for church? Or how often are we exhausted and we don’t want to go to work, but we press and go anyway, without a complaint. For many of us anything we find important whether it is self, a Boo, a hobby or an obsession, we make time for it no matter how tired, worn out or out of sorts we are, but when we are entrusted with the Gospel and the work of God we get tired, we grow weary or we just prioritize any and everything above it. That is because we are not truly committed to the cause, because when we are, committed to a cause, we find a way to get ‘er done regardless. We pack away the excuses when it comes to getting to a job that yields us a paycheck, but yet we will not stand committed to a God that sent His only begotten Son to die for us; so that we might have everlasting life.
It is time to get our priorities, our commitments and our allegiances in order. It should always read “in God I trust and to Him I serve. All others depend on what who they are wand where they fit into God’s plan for me.” We are created to good works; those good works are the will and mandate of the Father, not ourselves, not people, and not things. Be about it! BE COMMITTED TO THE CAUSE OF CHRIST!
