Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Friday 05/28/10)

It Shouldn’t Have To Be This Way!

1 John 1:7 (Amplified Bible)

7But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

I heard people often say that they only see family when there is a wedding or a funeral. It is said but often so true. My daughter always likes her family time she tries so hard to rally the family to play bored games or do a movie night. In many cases it ends up being just her and I because everyone else opts out. Everyone is in their own area of the house, doing their own thing. Last week my brother had to have emergency surgery and he still remains in the hospital to date, but our family has spent more time together as a family, laughing, talking and catching up and immersing ourselves in things that ordinarily would not be talked about because we weren’t spending that quality time together that we are now.

Why do we wait till tragedy strikes, or something happens to threaten life, limb or an element of life that is critical for us to realize we need one another, and that we should be valuing each other so much more instead of things. God created Eve for Adam in the garden, because He said it was not good for him to be alone. He encourages us in I Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.” Our children have no idea, what family dinner means, and our families spend more time with people outside of the house than we do taking time with those who live in the house. Us as parents have taken to allowing television, friends, teachers and the streets raise our children, because we do not spend time instilling in them the God center values that need to be present in their lives. We often take for granted the people that God has blessed our lives with and think, “they will always be there, or at least they will be there tomorrow.

We have not idea, what tomorrow holds, don’t let time with the ones you love and those you have been blessed to have slip away. Make time to love, be in a hurry to show your family, friends and those you encounter loved and give of your time and your talents to God first and to them next. Don’t let anything take your place in the lives of those who are in your life, for there is a reason God placed them there. You are valuable to them and they should be seen and treated equally as valuable to you. Fellowship with one another, to draw strength, gain insight and to be Blessed, but more importantly to be a Blessing!
