Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Thursday 02/02/2012)

How Quickly They Forget
Hosea 13:5-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
5I knew (recognized, understood, and had regard for) you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. 6According to their pasture, so were they filled [when they fed, they grew full], and their heart was lifted up; therefore have they forgotten Me.

Children are funny, they will ask for something, or ask to go somewhere and when you say no or hesitate they say you never let me have that or do that; forgetting that just two days ago they had that treat or just last month you let them spend the night out.  I guess I shouldn’t say that it is just children because we adults can do the same thing, we can ask for help, aid or assistance and when the person says they are unavailable or cannot accommodate we get mad, forgetting all the while this person has been there often or every other time.  I remember when my daughter first got her dog Sheba a little Pomeranian; Sheba was so cute, tiny and helpless, we found that she was suffering with Kennel cough. We cared for her and pampered her.  One morning I woke up and tried to roll over but something was in my way. I placed my hand down to feel what was there, it was Sheba and she snapped at me.  Of course I popped her little nose and told her if she ever did that again she would be finding another home (no problems since).  But I thought to myself, “how quickly she forgot who was taking care of her and ensuring she got her medicine and chopping up chicken for her when she was sick.
Isn’t it funny that we do God the same way? We get mad at Him, when He does not answer the way we want, when we want or in the manner in which we want; forgetting the whole time that God has answered previously, and that He has been faithful to do just what we have asked so many times before. But all too often we can’t see that.  All we see is what we need or want now and what didn’t happen.  I just went through a time when I was made at God; I thought why did He have to take my father home?  I had been caring for him, loving on him and more importantly praying for his continued healing.  One day in my anger I asked why, and God responded “you asked me to heal him and he is healed.”  I thought I was going to burst a blood vessel, because I got angrier, and I responded “you are God you knew exactly what I meant, I meant here on earth.” As I wrestled with God through my issues, I understood, that God had done what I asked He provided my father with ultimate healing, and that no matter what God had seen him through countless surgeries and countless times when the doctors said or thought he was not supposed to make it.  I had forgotten how faithful He had been in my father’s life in so many areas, in so many ways and so many times.
God’s way of providing for us and working things out for us, is not always going to measure up to what we think, but it is what is best whether we realize it or not.  But more importantly it is imperative for us not to lose sight of what He has done for us and what He has afforded us and what He has delivered us from and what He has saved us from and what He has healed us from. Every time God through the vehicle and movement of the Holy Spirit steps into our situation and gives us anything we need to remember He didn’t have to but He did.  He loved us enough to do all that He has already done in our lives. Don’t forget, all He has done even when He doesn’t do it our way, that day!
