Words of Encouragement For Your Day ( Monday 02/20/2012

Naturally Supernatural or Spiritually Natural
Proverbs 21:20-21
20“There are precious treasures and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a self-confident and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it. 21 He who earnestly seeks after and craves righteousness, mercy and loving-kindness will find life in addition to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) and honor.
Our Bishop is unique and He ministers to a large congregation with many different needs.  He really has a heart for the young people and sees a definite need to keep them busy and to involve them in ministry. A few weeks ago, a young lady who is in the teen population of our church got up to speak and she was speaking to the teens, but I am sure it ministered to the adult populations as well because it surely ministered to me.  She was speaking of giving God leftovers and giving others what was not rightfully theirs to have, such as our bodies.  It was a compelling word and it made me think of how many times I have heard people speak of the fact that we are only human and we make mistakes.  As I thought about these statement this made me think of the line in a song made by Human League many years ago in a song entitled “I’m Only Human.”  The chorus says, “I’m only human…Of flesh and blood I’m made…Human…Born to make mistakes.”  NO it isn’t mistakes that many of us are making; they are bad decisions and choices.  Yes, we are human, but why is that our fall back and our excuse?    The other day I was in the car and Donald Lawrence’s song came on the radio and the words simply said, “You’re not a natural being living a spiritual experience, but you are a spiritual being living this natural experience.”  Yes the truth of the matter is that we are living in a natural world, but our foundation and our base is and should be spiritual.  It was in the Garden of Eden that God created Adam and Eve; they were spiritual beings because it was God’s breath that was breathed into the lungs of man. We lean to being human a lot.  We have made it the excuse in which we attempt to sweep away, bad decision making, mistreatment of other, our selfishness, our attitudes our cussing folks out and our living in a manner in which we are constantly asking God to forgiveness for the choices we make and the attitudes we take not just towards people, but towards Him.  Many of forget that we are a kingdom citizen and that the word of God encourages us to be Holy because God is Holy (I Peter 1:16).  But if we are allowing the Spirit of God within us to guide us, and to guide our actions and decisions, we would have a lot less flesh, and a lot less excuses. We would draw on what is the truth of who we are which is spirit and it should be life to us and to others.  Our life should guide others to the Father, not confuse them, or drive them away from God.
Yes, you are a in the flesh, you are part natural.  But the truth is that you are spiritual being, living a natural experience that, does not end when the day is done, or when we close our eyes on this life.  When we move from life to eternal life can we say we lived a life that showed forth the glory of God, or will we stand before God and say, but Lord, “I was only human?”  Remember Jesus was God robed in human experience too and yet without sin.  He remembered what His ministry and mission was about first and foremost.  He remembered His citizenship and who He was connected to.  Can the same be said of us and how we are living, acting and treating others?
