Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Thursday 03/08/2012)

Your Poor Planning Does Not Constitute An Emergency On My Part
Isaiah 55:6-9 Amplified Bible (AMP)
6Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near. 7Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon. 8For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

My husband and I are often faced with an unfortunate series of events, because we have young adults, who neglect the planning process, often.  They plan according to the moments of their lives.  Even worse they often do without a plan or thought at all for anyone, not even us who many times must invest time, effort, and finances.  So my husband came up with a saying and I have adopted it as well, that, “Your poor planning does not constitute an emergency on my part.”  Stopping and dropping whatever we are doing in that moment redirecting our finances and time for them is often the expectation, with no advanced warning or planning needed or so they often think. I thought to myself as I thought about this how much my children’s behavior often models our behavior.
This is often what we do with God and how we treat him, we want God to stop and drop and do what we want, with no advanced time or planning with Him.  Isn’t that funny how annoyed we can get when people exhibit this lack of consideration for our time and effort, but we treat God in this manner.  We often take God for granted, even when we attend church on a regular, we only casually allow Him into specified areas of our lives.  We think that allowing God access s some way is better than no way at all, and that is good enough and that there is no need to allow Christ to come any further.  But the truth of the matter is God wants all of us.  He wants us to love and feel Him so much that we desire to come to Him and seek Him out concerning what is the life that He has given us and allowed us to have. He doesn’t want to be in a position that we only let Him get close to us when we really need Him, when we are in a place of poor planning or desperation because life is not turning out the way we planned it or desired it to be.  Our planning is great, but our planning minus God, His wisdom, guidance and direction can be a disaster.  We find ourselves frustrated and spiraling out of control, exhausted and often angry at the world.  It is then that we want to reach for God and we want Him to hurry up and fix our mess we are in or get us out of some dire situation that our planning or lack of planning with Him has gotten us into. Then when He doesn’t rush to our aide we get an attitude and we have the audacity to get mad at God for not moving on it.  Or there are times when even in our mess and lack of consideration for God, He will step in but often it is nothing like what we wanted or asked for, and then we are hurt and disappointed with God because we have something, but it is not what we really thought we needed for things to be straight and in the place we think it should be.  We are just doing, living and going on devoid of a God, His plan and we are doing our thing, with no thought for God and time with Him, that would cultivate an understanding of who He is and should be to us or what He wants from us. It is here where we find that people are not where we think they should be or doing what we feel they should be doing, or things aren’t working out the way we designed them to in our mind; we will find ourselves in the floor crying or walking around evil and mad at the world all because we left God out of the plan and did it our way!
The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6 “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.6In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” It also says in Proverbs 16:3 “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.”  It is when we consult with God and place Him first we do not have to worry about getting into places that God has not already predestined or planed for our lives.  We should remember God is God, He is bad all by HIMSELF, He is not in need of us, He desires us to be in relationship with us.  He is not our Genie in the Bottle, Boy or Girl toy or our magic potion.  It is through true relationship with Him that our lives become a place where we don’t require fire insurance or rescuing on a regular basis, because God is guiding our plans and steps to give us what He has ordained as life more abundantly!
