All Of Me
Psalm 119:9-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
9 How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed and keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to it]. 10 With my whole heart have I sought You, inquiring for and of You and yearning for You; Oh, let me not wander or step aside [either in ignorance or willfully] from Your commandments. 11 Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Today as I was on my way home from volunteering sometime at a school field day, I was stuck in traffic, my daughter and I had talked and she was now engrossed in a game and Godbaby who had played herself delirious was in the back seat sleeping. I was listening to one of our local gospel radio stations and pondering all of the crazy things that were going in my life and around me to so many that I know well and are acquainted with. It seemed to me as if God wanted something and many of us of were missing what it was. I had been praying to inquire of Him and had gotten some answers, but it was in the moment when the song, “He Wants It All,” came on the radio. I have previously heard this song and sang along with it quite frequently. The chorus says, “And He says love me, love me with your whole heart He wants it all today Serve me, serve me with your life now He wants it all today Bow down, let go of your idols He wants it all today. He wants it all.” Today as I sang, I stopped as my heart filled as did my eyes; something within me was arrested, as I listened to the chorus, it became clear what God wants and it is something we all have to give, it is me (us).
My husband and I are in a strange season, we laugh about feeling like we are rubber bands being stretched beyond our normal capacity almost to the point of breaking, but we have also noticed we are driven into the presence of God to seek Him more than ever. Paul spoke of a thorn that was in His flesh, something that obviously kept Him seeking after God for relief. But it is not just seeking God for relief, God wants us, He wants fellowship and Followship. He wants us to willing give Him ALL; freely and humbly understanding that we need Him and positioning ourselves in a posture that brings Him into communion and companionship with us. I think in those moments and even now as I sit to write this devotional my eyes are filled with tears because I understand how badly God wants to inhabit our praises and how much He wants us to love Him and eagerly give ourselves away to Him in obedience to His word and His will, but many of us are missing the blessings of God because we won’t come in subjection to the Word of God, the Will of God and align ourselves with His work to come into a place of Kingdom order that provides for us. Not just provision in the natural, but protection, health, mentally and emotionally. Provision that provides us peace and grace that comes to those who choose to abide with God, and give all to Him. Many of us struggle because God is struggling to gain our attention, time, and our loyalties. He is struggling to get us to yield to Him, or even hear Him. But struggle is not His desire for us His word in John 3 says that he wishes that we would be in health and prosper as our soul prospers. Our soul prospers by surrendering it all to God.
God desires you; all of you, the good, the bad, the work in progress, the hurt, the lame, the you that no one but Him knows. He wants us to put away those things that keep us from Him and draw closer. He wants our love wholly. God wants our service and our obedience; He wants us to bow down to Him alone. God wants something very unique and special, He wants you!
