Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Thursday 08/02/2012)

Keeping Watering
Deuteronomy 11:10-12 Amplified Bible (AMP)
10 For the land which you go in to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot laboriously as in a garden of vegetables. 11 But the land which you enter to possess is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of the heavens,12 A land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
I made some mango bread in June and I had some mango seeds. I thought it would be neat to have a mango tree since I am such a fantastic when it comes to anything tropical; I figured I would bring a bit of my island home here to Virginia.  I placed the seeds in water, thinking they may have been like an avocado seed, when nothing happen in a few weeks, I figured, maybe that was not the approach that I need to take as it concerned these seeds.  I went on the porch and found a large pot and some potting soil and placed the seeds in this pot and covered them with additional soil.  I began to water them every other day if not daily.  After three weeks I was very disappointed because nothing happened. I was still seeing the same old pot with the same old soil.  There was no evidence of growth; but something inside of me kept me continuing to go out and water what appeared be a fruitless situation. I had gotten busy for a few days and had not gone out, to water my plants.  Late last week I went outside watering can in hand and walked over to the pot expecting to see the barren soil that I had seen, for nearly two months but to my surprise there was about a four inch baby tree that had begun to sprout.  As I walked away with the biggest smile on my face, in side of me I could hear “keep watering.”
How many time in my life has God planted something inside of me and I have not seen results when I assumed that they should have occurred and I stop watering instead of being steadfast. I should have kept watering in spite of what I saw, understanding that if I continued to water out of my obedience, that God that would rain upon it and cause growth to manifest.  How many times in your life has God given you a seed or planted a seed of purpose or ministry in you and you watered for a week or two or even a month or two, but when the manifestation didn’t come you stopped watering that seed; you stopped praying on it, believing for it?  How many times has God given you a seed of a promise of a blessing and chaos hits and we become distracted or stressed to the point we stop watering?  This happens to everyone at some time or another as it concerns what God plants in us.  We find ourselves struggling because we live in a world where we rely upon our senses, and we rarely think or rely upon our spirit.  We rely upon how we feel, what we see and what we can touch, taste and smell, without reliance on faith; understanding that as we are doing our job, God is doing His.  We lack fortitude to be consistent, when we do not see the expected results.  But when we are in Christ according 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 it says “So then, we are always full of good and hopeful and confident courage; we know that while we are at home in the body, we are abroad from the home with the Lord [that is promised us].
For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance.” It is not what we see, and many times it is not the actual activity we are performing, but it is our faith that God is moving within that causing the growth, manifestation and change to come.
We have to develop and standard by which we believe God and trust Him, in our lives. We cannot just talk a good game, but we must live a good existence.  We can have the seed planted and neglect to water or even believe God for the rain, but that is why many of us are frustrated because we are not seeing the growth and progression within our lives that God has promised us and said in His word is ours for the asking and taking. We have to continue to water, the will of God in us by our reading of the Word of God and time with Him in meditation, prayer and fasting.  We should believe that where we water God will rain upon us, bless us, make manifest in us and complete the work that He has begun in us!
