Let’s Stay Together
Revelation 2:10 (New Living Translation)
10 Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.
Today’s message in the music comes from Al Green’s old school hit song “Let’s Stay Together”. The chorus of the song says- - - -Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad. I happened to catch a bit of this song last week on my drive home from picking up dinner. Of course it wasn’t the first time I’d heard the song, but it was the first time I truly got the meaning of the words.
Personally for me, my issue has been the ability to stay when things don’t go my way. I take cover as soon as my feelings are hurt, or I go on the defensive. I lash back or rebel before the other person has a chance to get in a good lick. I’ve learned that sometimes in life that you have to stay. You have to stand the test and trails of the situation, in order for God to bring about the victory. You have to stay committed when times are good or bad, or happy or sad. Sometimes God is testing us in our personal lives to be a direct reflection of how we will respond in our spiritual lives.
God of course lives the words to this song every single day of our lives. He loves and accepts us on our good days and our bad days. But it’s us who turn away from Him when our marriage goes south, we don’t get the promotion, we lose a friendship, the loan is denied, and the list goes on. It’s us who turn to the world when we feel God has let us down, or He didn’t answer our prayer the way we felt He should have.
Today as we begin another week, let us choose to stay together with God. Let us choose to be faithful whether times are good or bad, or happy or sad. Today let us vow to be dedicated, no matter the cost.
