Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( 03/02/10)

The Call Of Connectivity

A Clear And Concise Connection: What's In A Name?

Numbers 17:1-10 (Amplified Bible)

1AND THE Lord said to Moses, 2Speak to the Israelites and get from them rods or staves, one for each father's house, from all their leaders according to their father's houses, twelve rods. Write every man's name on his rod. 3And you shall write Aaron's name on the rod of Levi [his great-grandfather]. For there shall be one rod for the head of each father's house. 4You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before [the ark of] the Testimony, where I meet with you. 5And the rod of the man whom I choose shall bud, and I will make to cease from Me the murmurings of the Israelites, which they murmur against you. 6And Moses spoke to the Israelites, and every one of their leaders gave him a rod or staff, one for each leader according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. 7And Moses deposited the rods before the Lord in the Tent of the Testimony. 8And the next day Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony, and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and brought forth buds and produced blossoms and yielded [ripe] almonds. 9Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord to all the Israelites; and they looked, and each man took his rod. 10And the Lord told Moses, Put Aaron's rod back before the Testimony [in the ark], to be kept as a [warning] sign for the rebels; and you shall make an end of their murmurings against Me, lest they die.

My daughter and son both have unique names, and they are often mispronounced. It use to annoy both of them when individuals would mess up their names, but my daughter would just go with the flow, and she learned to answer to many things. One day she became determined to make the masses understand that her name was of great importance and it was not to be mispronounced repeatedly and she was not going to dishonor her name and who she was named by answering to anything other than truly who she was. She began to understand that the connection between her name and who she was, the legacy transferred into her was connected to her name. You see my daughter was a miracle with only a fifty percent chance of being born, she defied the odds and made it here. She understands that I named her what I did based upon the miracle that she is. She truly understands and embraces her name which means "of God"..She understands that my connection to God made her life possible and caused her to have a connection as well one that obviously established that she had and has purpose.
How often do we misunderstand how important connection is. Especially our connection to God. If God chooses us, no matter what man says we are chosen. Just as in the case of Aaron God had placed His anointing on him and had set him apart for His work, but many did not see why or how he could be chosen. But God had called Him by name and it was His rod with His name on it that proved his connection. Many times we want to try to fight to prove who we are connected to but it is in our name, all we need to do is be who God called us to be, who God named us. It is in us letting God call us out that there will be no doubt who we are and who we are connected to. We won't have to fight for respect because God will command it for us and He will put all battles to rest with just a name.
What is really in your name, for me my name means "consecrated to God." I do not need try to prove who I am or who I am connected to. I just need to obey God and yield to what and who He already called and proclaimed me to be. The name God calls me by has already established my connection and the truth of who I am. No one can take that from me, expect the one who bestowed it upon me. Understand who God has named you, and who He has called you to be in order for you to understand who you are connected to and why. Let your name speak for itself!
