Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Wednesday 3/17/10)

The Call Of Connectivity

Disconnecting From Disobedience

Psalm 51:1-15 (Amplified Bible)

1HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions. 2Wash me thoroughly [and repeatedly] from my iniquity and guilt and cleanse me and make me wholly pure from my sin! 3For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them; my sin is ever before me. 4Against You, You only, have I sinned and done that which is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified in Your sentence and faultless in Your judgment. 5Behold, I was brought forth in [a state of] iniquity; my mother was sinful who conceived me [and I too am sinful]. 6Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. 7Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean [ceremonially]; wash me, and I shall [in reality] be whiter than snow. 8Make me to hear joy and gladness and be satisfied; let the bones which You have broken rejoice. 9Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my guilt and iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me. 11Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit. 13Then will I teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted and return to You. 14Deliver me from bloodguiltiness and death, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness (Your rightness and Your justice). 15O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

My mother use to always say to myself and my siblings, “a hard head makes a soft behind, every time.” Sometimes we would receive with great joy her words of wisdom and other times they fell to the ground like a leaves on a windy day during autumn. I remember my parents constantly telling us, that no one was allowed in the house, when they were not at home. My brother and I knew better, but we were new to the neighborhood and all we wanted were some friends and not to be imprisoned to the house. So against what was taught to us and what we knew to do, and what had been repeated anytime we were left home alone, we allowed some neighborhood children in the house. Upon their entrance nothing seemed wrong, all seemed to be a harmless event (I am sure we both thought, what’s the big deal?)…but little did either of us know that I would be violated by two of the individuals that entered the house. Had we only listened and had we disconnected from disobedience that event would not have taken place and I would not have spent years of my life, keeping my dirty little secret and trying to regain something stolen from me.

We do not realize that disobedience can place us in harm’s way. It can cause us to suffer at the hand of the enemy. It can take us out of the protection and care of the Almighty. God wants us to realize when He instructs us to stay away from certain things, or to do certain other things, it is for our own good and it is to keep us safe and in a place of covering. For many years now God has had me pray Psalms 51 over myself as a method of humbling, purging and restoring me. It disconnects me from my transgression and short comings. It keeps me in constant remembrance that I need to stay disconnected from sin and connected to Christ. We should be allowing God to do a check on us, to ensure that we are staying in the His house under His care minus the company of things that we do not need and that can do detriment to us. If we learn that God’s way is the best way and being obedient to His directives, instruction and His word is what will keep us safe and covered, we would be more apt to stay away from anything that is a connection that is not rooted and grounded in God.

Obedience is truly better than sacrifice. Are you willing to stay connected to your sin, and iniquity? If so at what cost will it be to you? Will it be your safety, your health, your peace of mind, your family or maybe your life? Make a choice to disconnect from the things that you have been willfully disobedient in so that you can be restored, made whole healed, purged and delivered in order for God to use you to teach transgressors His way!
