Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Monday 8/3/09)

Today’s Devotional Written By A Young Woman Who Is Determined And Dedicated: Tracy Koweh

Clothes Don’t Make the Man

1 Samuel 16:7 (New Living Translation)

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Today’s message in the music comes from Jadakiss’s song “Who’s Real”. The hook of the song says “She’s phony, He’s fake, that’s the type of people I hate, If you’re real and you know it clap yo hands.” The Bible says that it’s better to be ice cold and a heathen than to be lukewarm and claim to be a saint.

Yesterday, as I was driving home from a birthday party, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I reflected on the scene when she actual gets to her grandmother’s house and finds the wolf lying in the bed. The wolf had assumed that the right clothes and voice would be enough to convince Little Red that he was who she was coming to see. How many of us have seen people with the crosses on their necks, the bumper stickers on their cars and the t-shirts that say “I’m SOULED out” and the true nature of the person was so far from Christ, you could put a galaxy in the middle.

See in the story what the wolf hadn’t realized was that Little Red had true relationship with her grandma. She looked beyond the clothes and noticed that the tangible features were wrong. She could tell that something about the wolf’s eyes, nose and mouth were off. This is how we should be with Christ. Our relationship with God should be so tight, that no matter what we wear on the outside, the world can see that we are living for Christ.

Today as we are blessed with another week, let’s get our relationship with God on track. Let’s get to a place where if Satan showed up in the King’s robe, we’d be able to say “that’s not my Savior’s touch, soul, or heart”. So if you’re real and you know it, CLAP YO HANDS!!!!
