Two to Tango
Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 (New International Version)
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Sunday after church Jaida and I went to look at some animals at the shelter. The plan was to see how well Jai interacted with the different pets for a future adoption. Well, yesterday we picked up not one, but two adorable kittens. Doing my “will you be a good parent interview” the lady asked was there a reason I wanted to take two home. The question wasn’t what threw me off, it was her attitude. She asked as if I were committing a crime.
My answer was simply because two pets are better one. In the rare moments I don’t want to be bothered, the two pets will play with each other instead of my living room furniture. She thought about my answer for a second and then agreed with me. The argument can be made that two pets could get into just as much, if not more trouble than one- - -and I agree. However, that’s why it is critical who we choose to pair up with in life.
I noticed last night, that although in a strange place, the kittens adjusted quite easily. It was as if they had a pact, that as long as they were together they knew things would be alright. They had separate toys and food bowls, but they played together and even ate from the same bowl. As to make the statement from day one that they were a team and they would have each others back.
