My Love, Speak to My Heart Part 3

Ephesians 4:29 (Amplified Bible)

29Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God's favor) to those who hear it.

So I told Lisa I would stop being a little rebel and write part 2 of the blog on Tuesday, and then God thought it would be funny to give me part 3. One song that Shane and I love to sing together is Donnie McClurkin's version of “Speak to My Heart”. The last verse says “Speak to my Heart Lord.
Give me your Holy Word. If I can hear from you, then I'll know what to do. I won't go alone, I'll never go on my own.”

If ever the power of words could change the atmosphere of a situation, this song can. I was sharing with a member in my office yesterday, that I couldn't quite explain the feeling of peace God has brought me too. I told her that I find myself struggling to except that I'm in a healthy and stable relationship. She asked what is helping me the most, outside of God's power in my life. And I told her it's the words that Shane speaks to me. Its the tone he uses and the gentleness in his voice. He is such a beast when someone or something from the outside tries to attack me, but when its me on the battlefield with him, he stays calm. No matter how much I yell or scream, he stays grounded... which causes me to have to refocus.

It's so amazing that he shows me love, even when I don't know how to show it back. I could say no to a request he has, and he will immediately turn around and say yes to mine. I can say something out of anger, and because God has graced him with the ability to speak directly to my heart, he will speak to me out of love. I can't explain it, but just the sound of his voice soothes me. The vibrations from his tone, takes away all panic and fear. He uses the power of his words to build me back up, to bridge the gap with others, to restore my joy, and recreate a new level self-esteem I've never had before. Instead of causing terror with his words, he brings tranquility. Where most have spoke hurt, he has spoke healing. When others have chosen to tear down, he chooses to build up. So many times we speak to the situation based off of our emotions, opinions, egos or thoughts, but we should learn to speak to the heart of the situation.

Today let us purpose in our hearts to use the power of our tongue wisely. We need to realize the true power of the words we speak. Broken bones can heal, bruises go away, but the scars of our words last a lifetime. Let's build a better world with the words with speak. And when we find ourselves needing a word to get us going again, ask God, then let God............... “Speak to Your Heart”.
