Today’s Devotional Written By One Ordained In This Season: Tracy Koweh
Can You Handle the Truth?
Jeremiah 5:3 (Amplified Bible)
3O Lord, do not your eyes look on the truth? [They have meant to please You outwardly, but You look on their hearts.] You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to take correction or instruction. They have made their faces harder than a rock, they have refused to repent and return to You.
Today’s message in the music comes from Phil Collins song “True Colors”. The chorus says: But I see your true colors shining through. I see your true colors. And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show. Your true colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow.
A lot of times in life we show people the person we want them to believe we are. We wear our wedding ring, when we are weeks away from a divorce. We drive around in flashy cars, that are rented or a payment away from repossession. We wear designer clothes that we charged on credit that we won’t be able to pay off for years. We scream the loudest in the sanctuary on Sunday, and we spend no time with God the other 6 days of the week.
For whatever reason, God has allowed us to be perfect perpetrators for this long, but He is about to expose some things in our lives. We think we have to be flawless for the world to love us, but Jesus without sin and they hated Him. I love that the first word of the chorus is But. No matter where you truly are, or how you truly feel God loves YOU. He loves the real you that He created you to be, and until we all begin to live our true colors, we are robbing the world of Heaven on Earth.
Today as we begin another work week, let us continue in our daily pursuit to true self discovery. Let’s allow God to show us our insecurities, our weaknesses, our shortcomings and our scabs that are not completely healed. And then let us allow Him to destroy the yokes and bring us into a place of divine deliverance. May your true colors be as bright and as beautiful as a rainbow from this moment forth.
