Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Tuesday 04/06/10)

Today’s Devotional Written By The Heart Of Tracy Koweh

Luke 23:35-38 (New Living Translation)

35 The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. “He saved others,” they said, “let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” 36 The soldiers mocked him, too, by offering him a drink of sour wine. 37 They called out to him, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 A sign was fastened to the cross above him with these words: “This is the King of the Jews.”

Today's message in the music comes from the Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack song "Count On Me". The second verse of the song says: I know sometimes it seems as if, We're standing all alone. But we'll get though it, Cause love won't let us fall.

Sunday in church my Bishop made a great point that I don't think I ever thought about before. When Jesus was taking that walk to Calvary, where was His crew, His believers, His supporters, His followers? Where were the people He had performed miracles on or for? Could no one to see how heavy that cross was to carry? Could no one step up and say Lord I got your back? We all know that we can count on God to be there in our darkest hour, but can God count on us.

Planning my wedding has been one of the happiest times of my life, but at the same time two of my closest friends are going through very painful separations. I love the fact that I can still count on them to be happy for me, and that they can count on me to be there for them. So many times in our lives we let the enemy cause us to miss an opportunity to be used trying to focus on our own situation. The greatness of the cross, is that he carried the load for something He didn't do. He shouldered the burden so that those He loves, could be set free. When you do the math, does it all add up? Can you be counted on in the Kingdom?

Are you God’s properties, during the cross or just for the crown? Does He have your heart when all hell is breaking loose, or only when you don't feel the need to let loose anymore? When your name comes up in Heaven, does it cause God to smile with confidence or smirk with confusion?

Today be a burden bearer and not just a burden. Pick up the cross of someone else and watch God move on both of your lives. When Heaven knows you by name, there is nothing you can't have. Tap into the unconditional love of Christ and let God use you to be a blessing to someone else today. It’s not always about self, but sometimes about being selfless.
