It Ain’t Nothing But A Word…
Isaiah 46:8-13 (New Living Translation)
8 “Do not forget this! Keep it in mind. Remember this, you guilty ones. 9 Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me.
10 Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. 11 I will call a swift bird of prey from the east—
a leader from a distant land to come and do my bidding. I have said what I would do,
and I will do it. 12 “Listen to me, you stubborn people who are so far from doing right.
13 For I am ready to set things right, not in the distant future, but right now!
I am ready to save Jerusalem and show my glory to Israel.
Many times in life we are faced with the challenge of words. There are things that we need to say, but we lack the ability to articulate what needs to be said, or we are not sure that our words will accomplish what we need for them to do. We even find that the possibility of words can cause us or another person to sense of great loss. Often we do not know whether our words will carry the power to change our circumstances…so we remain silent, or we speak little. Even though we may lack the ability within our words but when we speak the oracles of God and we speak His Words and His Will into the atmosphere things must change!
We forget that just because man lacks the words, or may lack the authority to change the very atmosphere in which we abide, God does not have that same problem. God’s word is the ultimate, the end all be all. It stands when all else fails. His words can make even the winds and the waves to obey. It can establish the course of our life. God’s word can give life or take it. In Numbers 23:19, it reminds us that, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” God’s word carries weight; it carries the ability to accomplish. It was His spoken word that called the world into existence and established the night from day. God’s word is the same word that calls life back into what is dead. His word establishes love, where love does not abide and where love lacks. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” God’s word will overcome any obstacle to ensure it accomplishes what it was meant to do, and to have the effect it was meant to have. We limit God’s words as if they were the word of a human, but His words were, they are and they are to be. Everything else can come to naught but God’s words will still stand (Luke 21:33 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear”).
We need to understand the power of God’s words even in our lives. If we can grasp on to the power that His words have even being said through us, and being released out into the atmosphere, we would boldly declare what God has said. We would put away the stubbornness of our flesh and the doubt of human thought and declare the Word of God. God’s word is a powerful tool and a powerful force, why because He is God alone, all by Himself and there is no other in heaven, and in earth that is like Him, so the same power that is His, resides within His word, because He and His word are one. There should never be any doubt in our mind that when we speak what Jehovah says that we can have exactly what Jehovah declared those words to establish, create or bring about in our lives. His words are not like ours, there is never a lack of them, and there is never a chance that they do not carry the authority or the power to change. There is never a chance that they cannot give life or cause, death to those things that are not His, or rise up contrary to His will and His Word. God and His word are one, they are the beginning and the end and everything in between, we only need to believe, and give breath to the authority that lies within the word and it shall be done!
