The Last Little Bit Left
Micah 4:6-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
6 In that day, says the Lord, I will assemble the lame, and I
will gather those who have been driven away and those whom I have afflicted. 7 And
I will make the lame a remnant, and those who were cast off a strong nation;
and the Lord shall reign over them in Mount Zion from this time forth and
forever. 8 And you, O tower of the flock, the hill and
stronghold of the Daughter of Zion, unto you the former dominion shall come,
the kingdom of the Daughter of Jerusalem.
Have you ever gone to the refrigerator and
found that there was only a corner of juice left in the carton, and
immediately, you became frustrated and just threw the container with that little
bit that was left in it away? How about
going to the cabinet and finding that someone left only a corner of peanut
butter and immediately your thought was that is not enough to make a sandwich,
so you either, threw the container away with the remains still in it or you put
it back in the cabinet. We will often despise
or become frustrated over what we view is not enough or inadequate. We hardly
look at the value of what is left. One
day I came in from being outside in the heat and I found a corner, and I
literally mean a corner of soda in a bottle, my first response was why would
someone leave this little bit, but my thirst, overcame my frustration and I
turned the bottle up and drank that corner.
That corner was the most refreshing and somehow satisfying taste that
had ever entered my mouth.
It is funny how we are programed to discount,
despise and disregard the little bit that is left. The world does this with those of us who have
been through something, or are not exactly the elite or the image of success
and prosperity, and we seem to have only a little bit left in us? Strangely enough God sees those of us who are
in these places as the ones that He can give strength to, the remnant of His
handiwork, and ones that will be elevated and will reign. It is the discarded ones, the ones that have
been thought to be not much that God will use.
It is the one who has a tainted past or broken marriage or marriages,
dysfunctional family, abuse, those that the world and even the church doesn’t
want to hear from or will disqualify that God will take and make something
great from. Why, because it is those who have been through some things that
have been humbled by their circumstance; they have learned the value of God
because God is often all they have and they have learned lesson that others
feel that they will never need to learn.
You see God will use the foolish things of this world to confound the
wisdom of man and worldly values. It is those
who are the cast a ways, the left overs the ones who have little; the ones seen
as little in the eyes of people that God often used through His word as examples
of His love and His ability to use them and elevate them to places only He
could. So many of us have been called
the one that could not make it, we have made too many mistakes and we don’t
have anything to offer, and we have brought into what has been said about
us. The good news is that God says
something different; He has chosen you above those who have what man sees as
qualification of a successful candidate.
If
you have been thought of to be the last little bit, the one who doesn’t
qualify, the least of those being looked at, take heart and know that God sees
you as one He can use, the one He can cultivate and make you the premier
individual so that He get the Glory out of you and no man or woman can claim
that they made you who God has ultimately called you and established you to
be. There is a line in a song that I
love by Termaine Hawkins, that says, “Little becomes much, when you place it in
the Master’s hands!” Let your little
become the much, place your life totally in the Master’s hands!
