Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Thursday 10/06/2011)

Today's Devotional is Written By My Daughter who is So On Point And Spiritually Connected! Tracy A. Dixon

Not Allowed in the House

Psalm 127:1-2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1EXCEPT THE Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of [anxious] toil--for He gives [blessings] to His beloved in sleep.

The other day at work we were having a "brag about your doggie" conversation. About ninety-five percent of my co-workers have dogs, so we have these conversations often. Well, the conversation took a slight turn when one of our co-workers said that her dog is not allowed in the house AT ALL. He lives, eats, and sleeps in the garage- - -which is connected to the house. He has portable heaters and air thanks to the kindness of her neighbors. Now to the to the rest of us, this concept seems so impersonal and border line cruel.

I'm not here to say this behavior is right or wrong, but I can say that this represents too many Christians in the kingdom right now. We don't want Christ to come into our house, which is the temple that holds our spirit. We want Him around to pet, play with and feel safe. We dare not let Him come in, run around, tear some stuff up, settle and make our house His home. If not for some good neighbors in our lives, He would not know that He is even thought about or cared for.

God is just like a new doggie we bring home. We train Him to the type of relationship we will have and want with Him. If you won't let Him in the house, He is not going to force His way in. If you tell Him to stay outside, He is going to do just that. The dangerous part though, is that the moment the intruder sneaks in the back door, and not the garage door, He will stay right where you have trained Him to be. If you leave Him outside, you might not be able to get to the door when your body, family, house, job, health, peace, joy, or sanity is under attack. So take down the beware of dog sign out of the yard, cause its not scaring the enemy at all. He knows God is not genuinely apart of your life, so your threats mean nothing to him. He knows you don't tithe, pray, or even obey the small things.

God is sitting at the door of some of our hearts, wanting to come in, but waiting to be let in. Will you continue to let Him be just close enough to be near you, but not close enough to be IN you. God would rather you leave Him at the pound to go home with someone who wants to add them to their live and not their brag sheet. What are you so afraid of? He wants to dwell with you. Don't sell yourself short and leave Him outside. Step out on faith and let Him in. Invite Him to come in and tear up those things that are holding you back. Let Him run free in every corner, crack and room in your house. Let Him eat, sleep and dwell with you and be in awe of your Extreme Home Makeover .
