Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Wednesday 05/02/2012)

How Often Do You Think Of Me
Psalm 139:17-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.

Most of us would arguably agree that when we love someone we think of them often.  My husband and I joke about the fact that we think of each other too often, but I am coming to understand that when we love someone, we will not just consider them from time to time, but we will think about them most times and consider them in all things.  We will think of the times we have shared, the times that we can share or the next time we will see them or spend time in their presence.  No matter who it is that I love, from friends, to family member and especially my husband they are on my mind and I think about them, in many different aspects and what they may need or want.  I think enough of them to pray for them and to try to give them the best of me.
How is it that we claim to love God and Jesus as Lord and Savior and He is not on our mind?  Why is it that we are not meditating on Him or His Word day and night?  God gets slighted by us, because His thoughts of us are more than the sand that covers the earth, but how often do we think of Him?  Would our thoughts of Him even cover a saucer or fill a four ounce baby bottle?  Do we consider what is pleasing to Him; do we even think about the time we have spent with Him, or is there even time to think about?  Do we think of what He wants from us as much as we think what we want for Him to do for us?  Do we even think about how we can have more time with Him and how we can become closer to Him?  All of these thoughts signify love that we have, and when those thoughts are missing, we can safely question where the love is?  We are ever on the mind of God, but is He ever on our mind; if He was it would not be easy to be ugly and nasty to people.  It would not be easy to be hurtful and unkind. When we are really loving God and thinking of Him, often we don’t have time to indulge in negativisms, vengeful thoughts and being anyone but who He wants us to be.  We can examine where our thoughts are to clearly see who or what we love.  What we are preoccupied with in thought is what we are preoccupied with in life.
You are on God’s mind.  He is thinking of you and me, desirous of time and attention that many of us have lacked giving Him.  How often do we really, honestly think of God and have thoughts of His Son?  Do we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, do we consider that He took our sins and hung upon a tree in order for us to have relationship and access to God again.  Do we think about how many times the Holy Spirit has comforted us and lead us?  Do we think of how good God has been to us, and how merciful He has been, even in those times we have not deserved it?  Is it that we are only thinking of God in terms of what He can do for us, or are we ever considering His love for us and the love that we should have for Him, and the obedience that we should be operating in to prove our love for Him. Are thinking of ways to please Him, are we loving His people and doing what is right by them, or are we only thinking about what people should be doing for us and how we should be treated?  God’s thoughts are innumerable, but could you say that our thoughts for God are the same?  Can we say that we sincerely think and consider Him,  even once a day?  If we love Him, we should be thinking of Him!
