Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Monday 05/07/2012)

Who Are You Dependent On To Be Full
Psalm 104:27-29 Amplified Bible (AMP)
27These all wait and are dependent upon You, that You may give them their food in due season.28When You give it to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, and they are filled with good things. 29When You hide Your face, they are troubled and dismayed; when You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

Have you ever eaten and still felt as if you were still hungry?  Most of the time if I am dieting or am restricting myself from certain foods, I find myself facing this particular dilemma. This is when you find yourself searching for something else to snack on or waiting around for the next time that you are able to eat something.  Either one of these choices can be detrimental to a diet. If I choose to snack, the wrong things can derail my diet and throw my body’s metabolism into a tail spin. If I wait I run the risk, of being overly hungry and when I finally do sit down to a meal, overeating by a large sum.  It is when I find that I eat the right balance of things in the right amounts that I am able to wait for my next meal without issue.
Yesterday as I read this scripture, it made me evaluate my dependencies and who or what I look to, to feed my emotions, cognitive space, my spirit and even my soul and body.  I found although I have gotten off of a lot of things that were bad for my spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health, there were still more things that I needed to eliminate out of my diet or should I say out of my life.  Assuredly, we all look to things outside of God to fill us or feed us in one way or another, because we have become depend on affirmation and accolades to nourish us, strengthen us and to cause us to feel full, but as I have grown, I have learned that waiting on God to fill my spirit, soul and emotions, and controlling my thoughts and will by the wWord of God and prayer, I am filled with good things that nourish me and not things that still leave me searching and hunger, dissatisfied or in need.  I love the song by Vashawn Mitchell, entitled Nobody Greater, the chorus say, “I searched all over, couldn’t find nobody, Searched high and low, still couldn’t find nobody. Nobody greater, nobody greater than you.”  Many times we are searching for someone or something to feed or fill us.  We go to great lengths to obtain that full feeling and to be satisfied, but many of us because of where we are looking still find ourselves, hungry, troubled and dismayed and dying from the inside out, because we are only getting that temporary fix, or we are malnourished, because what we are feeding ourselves has not nutritional value, and is not greater than God.  Sometimes instead of waiting on God we get impatient and we find ourselves searching for a snack, an interim fix, that will only frustrate us and leave us right back in the cycle, in the end.  But when we have real relationship with God, when we are humbled and submitted to Him, we find we fill up on Him, we hunger for Him, in a way that only He can fill, and when we taste of Him, we are filled and we are satisfied and able to wait on Him in areas of our lives, that without Him would have us in pursuit of something that may make us sick and even kill us.
It pays to wait, in so many areas of our lives that we don’t think God cares about or understands.  When we don’t mind waiting for the best meal provided we find that we can cut out all of the in between snacks that cause us to stray from the presence of God, His will and His plan and purpose for our lives; the things and people that we become reliant upon, that may be unhealthy to us, and the plan of God for our lives. Let God feed you till you want no more, it is then that you will find that good things to do come to those who wait.  But if you chose to be fed and filled by things that are not G O D approved you may find yourself sick
Breathless and lifeless.
