Words Of Encouragement For Your Day (Friday 05/18/2012)

Thank You For Allowing Me To Be Here
Deuteronomy 26:3 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And you shall go to the priest who is in office in those days, and say to him, I give thanks this day to the Lord your God that I have come to the land which the Lord swore to our fathers to give us.
This morning I woke up and instead of my normal prayer and even my normal rolling over to greet my husband my words were “Good Morning Lord, I love you and I am so grateful for you allowing me to be here.”  My heart was full and I have been in a place more recently that I understand how amazing grace is, but that it is the prayers of so many that have lived before me like my grandmothers and grandfathers and my father and mother that allow me to be here in this place.  I remember many years ago my father saying to me in the midst of a conversation that He wanted more for me than He had.  He wanted me to achieve more than He had.  I know his mother’s prayer was the same for her children; as a widow with five children she wanted them to have more than what she was able to offer them. Of course my prayer is that my children hit a pinnacle of success that I never achieved.  But this morning I understood that I was in a place that those who went on before me were promised.  I am living in the grace of their prayers and the covenants that they had with God manifested in and through me. Never did I think that I would accomplish all that I have, especially with all I have been through and suffered from and under but it was because of prayers and those before me seeking God for a manifested blessing over those who were to come after; it was God’s promise of favor to the lineage of the family that allows me to be in the place where I am.  As well it allows many of you to be in the place you abide presently.
I wonder how many of us realize that if it had not been for the Lord on our side we would not be in the place of blessing, prosperity, ministry, knowledge, wisdom and favor we are in now.  I wonder how many of us can look back to our grandparents and parents and see how much time they spent upon their knees praying for us, before they even knew us. Too many of us think we are going places, doing things and garnering great success in our lives based solely upon me, myself and I, when in truth it is the prayers of those who have been that rest over our lives and we should recognize that we are not alone in this and that God’s favor rest with us because of the promise, the covenant that God made to others.  We should be thankful for the legacy of God and faith that is in us and rest assuredly upon our lives.  We should feel a sense of thanks for God allowing us to become the fulfillment of His promises towards our generational line.  Knowing that many of us are not deserving of what we are seeing manifested in our lives based upon our relationship with God, we should understand that something more is carrying us, something more rest upon us, and we should understand the responsibility and the sheer humility that should come as a result of where God allows us to be and abide.  It is not just the successes in education, careers and wealth according to world standards, but the places we are allowed to sit, stand and walk that lead us to speak into people’s lives the love, power, grace and favor of God; the places that many of us abide that our lives have become a living testimony of who God is and what He can do.
Understanding that our life is not our own, allows us to understand the power of God in our lives and the prayers and sacrifices of those who submitted to God to get us where we needed and even desired to be.  If we can just for once be thankful for where we are and understand that it may not be perfect, but it is so much more than many of our grandparents and parents had, and that we are a living testimony of their faithfulness, and the covenant that they had with God we would be not just thankful but humbled and filled gratitude to God first for allowing us to be and to be the promise manifested.  Can you see who helped you get where you are today and the truth of why you are where you are?  I am thankful for being where I am; I am more than thankful to God and all those who prayed prayers to get me here, are you?
