Words Of Encouragment For Your Day (Thursday 05/17/2012)

Making What Was Once Bad Into Beautiful

Revelation 21:3-5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne and I perceived its distinct words, saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live (encamp, tent) among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God. 4 God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away. And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine).
Have you ever lived in a place or had a person or situation in your life that you had mixed emotions about or even felt like you never wanted to face again.  I believe most of us if not all of us have at least one thing, or person we would probably rather avoid, because the memories, or connotation associated with that place, situation, person or circumstance were bitter sweet, or just plain bitter.  Surprisingly, enough I had a place just like this.  I lived in paradise, or what most labeled paradise here on earth; there was time I even said it was God’s paradise, and God favored this place.  Although this place was filled with beauty, wonder and God’s handiwork, it was a place I never thought I would return to because when I lived there, there were many things in my life were broken, dysfunctional and I was in a lot of pain.  Strangely enough God allowed me to go back to this place, when I returned I had no idea what I would feel like or what memories would try to sneak back upon me, but God had taken a place of mixed emotion and bitter memories and captivity to things, individuals and situations that were not in His will for my life and made this place a place of triumph, new memories, a place where His presence was more than evident it was overwhelming and although there were tears this time, they were tears of joy, thanksgiving, tears as God washed away the past and made things new, and tears of love, being loved and sharing real love.
Many of us are in refusal to go back, because all we can see is what the past held; all we can see is what went wrong instead of what God may be trying to do.  Moses left Egypt and he was afraid to return; he tried his hardest to give God excuses that would possibly change God’s mind.  But the one thing I didn’t realize when I was called back, and most likely the same thing Moses did not realize was that God had a purpose and a plan in sending us back.  He was going to wipe away the tears and the disdain in which we left and bring us to a place of triumph, replacing the ashes and what was seen as ruin of our lives with beauty, accomplishment and uniqueness.  God took Moses and sent him back and allow people that encountered Him to know God was with Him, and that he did not have to fear, the past, or anyone in his past, He was there to carry out a mission, a call, a mandate that God himself had placed.  When we say that we trust God, God will often make us prove how much we actually do trust Him. But if we know anything about God we should understand that nothing God does is to harm us. He only does things to enhance, advance and get us to a place where our lives brings Him Glory, and that we can recognize that it is God that is the one who can take a mess and make it a masterpiece.
Just as this trip, I now understand God was doing a work in me, and through me. He was causing my life, upon return to become a living testimony of His faithfulness and Grace.  Just as when Moses wrought miracles through the power of God, that became the catalysis to free the people of God, upon His return to Egypt we must understand that God does not take us back, for no apparent reason. He takes us back with purpose and destiny in mind, to bring us out of what held us captive and still was painful, to a place where we can’t even see the past but only the new memories, the triumph of God’s Glory being manifested in our lives and blessings that He ordained for us to walk in or the call He has us fulfilling.  It is a miracle of epic proportion when God takes you back to face your past and makes it disappear right before your very eyes by filling your eyes with the Glory of the His intended day for us!
