I Have Grasped The Concept It’s The Execution I Am Having Problems With
Luke 9:24-26 Amplified Bible (AMP)
24 For whoever would preserve his life and save it will lose and destroy it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he will preserve and save it [from the penalty of eternal death]. 25 For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself? 26 Because whoever is ashamed of Me and of My teachings, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in the [threefold] glory (the splendor and majesty) of Himself and of the Father and of the holy angels.
My daughter is taking mathematics during the summer sessions at college; these session are only two weeks in length. They are moving at such a rapid pace, that it is difficult to grasp the true process by which you execute. She understands the concept, but execution can sometimes be challenging and cause her to get a bit frustrated. I can sympathize with her plight because Mathematics, especially statistics is my mountain, my challenge. Last summer I took Managerial Economics, because it contains high levels of statistics I had avoided this class; I was fearful to take it and be unsuccessful because my MBA depended upon this last class. I was at a cross road, I either would face my fears take this class or find myself retaking five courses if I waited. That was a no brainer, Managerial Economics and I would have to meet in the ring and I fully intended to come out the winner, I understood the concept of economics, it was the execution of the statistics that I had struggled with. But this time I was determined and focused, fully intending to master this and receive my MBA. I did not allow fear, or even myself to get in the way of executing the processes necessary to pass this course. The main process I used was prayer focused determination to get the job done, and I did with an A, by God’s grace and a great tutor!
How many times have we faced something that we sensed God wanted from us and we go the concept but the execution was not present because we possessed some sort of emotion that prohibited us from being obedient successful and in the will of God? I would venture to say if you are anything like me, more times than you could count or account for. Even when we come to Christ we get the concept that God desires for us to live holy, to change our way of living and thinking, but the execution is lacking, because we lack the strength to move out of the way and allow God to have preeminence or we don’t put ourselves in position to get what we need to become successful in God’s kingdom. Just like taking classes I am required to read and study, to practice and take examinations, and write papers, but when we think of our salvation and living a life that is Holy and acceptable unto God we are not willing to give Him all that is necessary to get what He has already prepared for us. We will ensure we do what is necessary for promotions on our job, to succeed in classes and in life to gain monetary gain that when we leave this earth will fade or become the possession of another, but we won’t study to gain wealth that is eternal, and impacts God’s kingdom and advances His cause. Why is that? Do we see what we desire as more important? Do we fear releasing our lives to God fully? Do we just want to do what we want to do? Do we fear the change, or losing friends and family members because we change to do the will of God?
Whatever the case is, God desires us to be successful and He wants to bless us, but we have a responsibility to not just get the concept of relationship with Him, but to work towards the execution and get that in order. We have what it takes we apply our persistence and will to whatever is important to us. If we want the best of God and to see Him move in our lives, we must determine Him as important, as the one who leads our lives, our jobs, our careers, our ambitions, and our relationship. Seek God first, study to show yourself approved, and pray without ceasing, renew your mind so that you don’t just have a form of Godliness or the concept but that you are executing His ways in your life and having His will manifest in your living!
