Is The Thought of You Causing A Smile
Micah 6:6-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
6 With what shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?
Have you ever thought about someone you love and asked what you thought you could do to make that individual smile or be happy? I often do that with my husband, my children and friends as well. A smile is usually indicators that pleasure exist and that your mind is receiving some sort of positive impulses. I am sure some of you are reading this and thinking, you know people who can smile in your face and dislike you or even hate you, how can that be pleasurable? To them these impulses unfortunately produce pleasure or the thoughts associated with those feelings, produce the pleasure. But a true smile is normally associated with good things. When I think of how I think of my family and friends, I also think at how much my heart desires to make God smile and to cause Him to be pleased with me.
The Bible in Hebrews 11:6 it says, “But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].” As I began to read and research the Bible I found that pleasing God is not just a matter of faith, but it is a matter of living, a matter of service and loving God enough that we seek obedience, truth, understanding, love and to be more like Him. It amazes me that we want God to smile down upon us, but we don’t want to do what it takes to cause God to be pleased with us, and to Smile. We want to live an adjusted existence doing the parts that are easy or that do not force our flesh to come under subjection. We don’t want the Holy Spirit convicting us or our humbling us, we just want the benefits, without being fit. Many of us don’t even want to give our whole selves to God we just want to give Him our hand and sometimes our heart, but we come back and retrieve our hearts when times get tough or we feel there is someone more important that we need to give it to. Who is more important than the creator of the universe? As much thought as we apply to pleasing people and pleasing those that surround us daily why is it we are not applying that amount of thought to gain the heart, attention and pleasure of God? Is it because we think He has everything and doesn’t need us, or do we think that He has so many people He is responsible for and that are giving Him praise, attention and worship that if you slack, He will never notice. How untrue that is. Although we are made in God’s image, we are all uniquely made, with a unique praise and a unique style of worship inspired of the Holy Spirit. There is not one quite like you, so if you don’t who will? If you don’t seek to please God and make Him smile who can take your place? No one.
God wants all of us. He doesn’t want a part time lover or friend; He wants us to be committed to pleasing Him, with the life that He has blessed us to live. Think about this very thing, if we humble ourselves before God, giving Him all, and seeking to please Him, will we not receive what we measured out? No we will receive more because God does exceedingly, abundantly above all we can think or ask. If God is pleased and smiles, as sure as God created the Heavens and the Earth, you will smile too, because of the pleasure that God finds in you will produce the favor of God, that will rest upon your life!
