Time to Get Your Glide On

Hebrews 12:1 (New International Version)

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Today we will continue our “Snake Series.” I have gained so much insight from such a simple act of nature this week. I pray you have all been truly touched in some area of your life as well, and that by the end of this blog, I pray that we all will be able to get our glide on :o).

Fact: A snake will make use of any rough objects or surfaces within its enclosure to help shed the skin.

So many times in our lives we can’t see the blessing in the midst of the storm. In most cases when they come up against us, it causes us to back down, but not the snake. He has learned how to use the rough things in life to its advantage. It has figured out a way to allow the hard things it “rubs” against to help it shed its old skin. How profound is this? How many of us leave a piece of our old skin on a situation as a sign to say “we’ve been here, and done that.” We have to learn to love our battle scars because they are yet another sign that we have survived

In the story Hansel and Gretel, the two siblings attempted to leave a trail of bread crumbs so that they could have a visual of the path they had trailed .Although we should never go backwards in our lives, there are times we do- - - - -whether it’s an unhealthy relationship, an old attitude, an old addiction or behavior. In cases like these when we get there and “see” the skin left behind, it should remind us that God has already delivered us from that thing. It should be the strength that gives us the courage to glide away.

Fact: The snake passes between rough objects that can trap the loose skin and hold it as the snake glides out of the "old" skin.

Not only does the snake use the rough objects to its advantage but it seeks out the rough surfaces. It goes where the road is rocky because it knows that the end will result will be a fresh new coat. A new layer of life. How often do we find ourselves trying to run from the storm? If we have Christ in our lives, we should be able to face any situation in our lives head on. When we run from something, it exposes our back to be an open target and it decreases the range of things we can see going on. Imagine standing in the sand on the beach………which gives you a better view of the dangers in the water. You looking towards the water or away?

Today choose not to be entangled with the stresses of this world, but instead put your spirit on cruise control and glide on with Jesus.
