Today’s Devotional Written By A Young Woman Who God Is Truly Anointing In A New Way: Tracy Koweh
Blood is Thicker than Water
The Family Series
Matthew 12:46-50 (New Living Translation)
The True Family of Jesus
46 As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 47 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to speak to you.”[a] 48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”
Today’s message in music comes from the title of the Sister Sledge’s song “We Are Family”. A few weeks ago the Lord instructed me to do a series on family. I was so confused because my family situation is so totally not the American Dream. Since I was a child I’ve always had the ability to look at things completely different than the rest of the world.
I have a saying that “Friends are family you get to choose”, because in so many relationships in my life, I am closer to some people who share no DNA with me. The pressure this series has put on me; guided me into a preparatory fast last week, and then the Lord showed me the above scripture. I hadn’t truly understood it the first few times I read it, but then my eyes were opened.
Mary and Jesus’s blood relatives were standing outside of a home waiting to speak to Him, yet JESUS pointed to His disciples and said, “These are my mother and brother”. Not because they shared a bond because of their DNA, but because they shared the bond to do the will of God the Father.
When God first gave me this assignment, I replied, “God I’ve always been taught that blood is thicker than water”. He said, “Mud is thicker than dirt, and which one is easier to clean up”. As I look at where I am in my life, I realize a lot of things; I’ve had to dig my way back from, mistakes that were produced by past generations. Some of the demonic challenges that I have faced and that have come against me, have been pasted down through my generational blood line. BUT I am ready for God to perform a blood transfusion, to make my life better for Jaida and those who will come after us both.
Today as we begin another week, let us set our eyes upon those who are pushing us into the Will of God. The only blood line that should matter, is the blood of Jesus. As much as I love my biological family, grandmother’s blood can’t heal me, deliver me or set me free. As I prepare to enter into war, to save my family and get control back from the enemy, I invite you to join me. Satan has been running wild long enough, will you be the one blessed to bear the burden…………………….
