Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Monday 01/11/10)

Today’s Devotional Written by a Young Woman Seeking to Walk Worthy for Her Lord: Tracy Koweh

Time to “Step” it UP

Psalm 37:23-24 (New Living Translation)

23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Today’s message in the music comes from Season 25 of Sesame Street, with Destiny Child singing “I Gotta New Way to Walk”. When I heard it on Jai’s TV a few weeks ago, I instantly remembered how much I loved that song as a kid, but it wasn’t until these past few days the words hit me as adult. The song pretty much just keeps repeating: I gotta new walk to walk, WALK, WALK

Last week, due to a number of reasons our travel plans changed from a week in New York to a week in St.Louis. Then for a whole set of different reasons, those plans changed from a week in St.Louis to four days in Atlanta. My oh my, what a Holy Ghost set up that turned out to be. Although it was not our original plan, intent or even a back up plan, it turned out to be just the thing we all needed. It was four days of rest, tests and revelations.

I remember speaking to Lisa because there were some things that had went down, that I felt like I should have went off about, but I didn’t - - - -- I couldn’t. I told her I had felt weird and strange in my own body because I wasn’t use to letting God handle “my” business. I felt out of place and in unfamiliar territory, but I gotta tell you that I adapted to it quite easily. I remember at one point hearing my spirit sing, “I gotta new way to walk, WALK WALK, and then it made sense.

It wasn’t that the people, situations or circumstances around me had changed in anyway, but that I had finally come to place of true surrender to God (not that I don’t still try to help Him out at times). Although it’s only been 10 days in this year 2010, God has tested my faith, my relationships, and my priorities already. He has shown me that He is serious and that while the world is expecting great things from Heaven, Heaven is expecting the same from the world.

Today take a moment to do a self inventory check and in those areas that you are still trying to control- - - -change your step, change your approach. The walk and stride that carried you though 2009 won’t make it through 2010. Just as we are expecting God to step up in our marriages, our finances, our healing and our God we need you to do it list, God is expecting us to step up our prayer life, our devotion time, our faith, our giving, and our obedience to His word. The steps of the Lord have been pre-ordered………….are you walking into Heaven, or straight into Hell.
