The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you![a]” 29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.
Yesterday as I sat reading my Bible, aspiring for a deeper understanding of the conception and birth of Jesus, I was surprised at the facts surrounding His beginnings. I've always known that Mary was a virgin, but it never registered to me that meant she wasn't married. So not only was Jesus born to a TEEN mother who was UNWED, but in addition to that, the man that was physically present in His life, was NOT his biological father.
Of course I know that I am not Jesus, but I too was born to an unwed mother and the man that was physically present in my life as a child, was not my biological father. So what does it all mean? What is God trying to teach us all? I believe that God wants us to know that the circumstances in which He allowed us to be brought into the earth, will not hinder the fulfillment of His purpose in our lives for this world. So many times because of the events surrounding how we came into the world; will make us look at where we came from and feel discouraged and disqualified.
Jesus was not born into an ideal situation, but He didn't allow that to stop His destiny. God wants someone to know that it doesn't matter what your father was or was not, what your mother did or didn't do, that in the end He will have the final say. Some reading this right now, grew up being called a mistake, a regret or a disappointment, but know that God doesn't make mistakes.
Today rejoice in the fact that God is your beginning, middle and end. He kept you through all the hell of your past, so that you can stand boldly now, and present yourself a living sacrifice to Him and others. No matter if you were conceived in a broken home, to teen parents, drug addicted mother, a product of rape, In Virto Fertilization, or you were conceived the good ole fashioned way…… you matter and you have a purpose. Jesus is the greatest example; it doesn't matter how you get here, what matters is what you do while your here.
