Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Friday 01/15/10)

Called To A Higher Place…

1 John 4:20-21 (Amplified Bible)

20If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen.

21And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother [believer] also.

This week has been one of those weeks where I have been tested in many areas, but I was not alone. It would appear that God is testing many of us in the area of our responses in situations, and with people and what is looked at as “their foolishness.” Whether it has been people that have hurt us coming back into our lives or whether it has been those we are closest to acting the plum fool and stress’in our last nerves. I have heard stories that made me fighting mad and made me laugh, but all of them made me ask, “God what is really good, what are you doing?” As I sat tonight texting my sister over one such situation the Lord kept saying you are called to a higher place. You have to get delivered from people and do the right thing in spite of their motivation, actions or words. My sister made me laugh when I read her words in response to that very statement. Her retort was one that spoke most of our sentiments which was “well, I want another place.”

Being called to a higher place means called to accountability and responsibility. Being called to a higher place means loving the unlovables in our lives, and praying for those who have used us. It is pressing through to people even when they have blamed you, when you weren’t to blame. Being called to a higher place makes us diligent, to not just speak the word, recite a scripture, but to actual live it. Every thing that God commands us to do is not just a nice suggestion that we can have a spirited discussion about. It is a force, yes a force that is to be reckoned with, or should I say a force that will reckoned with us. It will deal with us in such a way that it will reveal who we are; who we belong to and what level we are on. We are responsible not just to ourselves for what we know, but to God’s kingdom. We should want to uphold the standard for Kingdom purposes alone, and so that we are not displeasing in God’s sight.

Challenge yourself to exhibit love and compassion even when it is not being given to you. Listen even through accusation and judgment, and choose to respond in love, instead of in anger. Let God’s character be manifest and not your flesh. God is requiring of you this day, your life to line up with your declaration. It is time to come on up to the High place, God will give you hinds feet to make the journey if you let him.
