Knowing Me Better Than I Know Myself…
Psalm 139:13-16 (New Living Translation)
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Have you ever met someone or had a friend that swore that they knew you better than you knew yourself and they thought they could tell you what made you tick, and why, even though they did not even know themselves? Most of us have at least one friend, co-worker or associate that falls into this category. On our best days most of us don’t even know ourselves well, or what we are even capable of good or bad. Most of us think we do, but really we often miss out on a lot. You see God has given us this beautiful ability to block things and experiences that are painful, but these things have affected us, and the forming of who we are. We also have the ability to go in denial when it comes to dealing with many issues that come up within us that need to be dealt with or changed that we don’t want to deal with or change. We also have trouble seeing things that are too close to us, namely us. But we also can be our worse critic and the hardest person on ourselves.
I am so glad that there is one that knows me better than I know myself. A person that knew me before I even knew myself. He knew and still knows what I am capable of in spite of my mistakes short falls and mess ups. He knows what I need to motivate me to my very best and He knows how to put me in a place to face my demons and the spirits that I have allowed to attach to me, or ones that have come through my generational path. You see I have a Heavenly Father that called me by my name before, my mom and dad even knew I would be, and before the foundation of the world. He knew my first day and He knows every day that has come after. He also knows what I need to be equipped with to make it through those days. He knew my level of sensitivity because He formed and fashioned me that way. He knew my level of intelligence, and my level of tolerance. He knew what my weaknesses would be and He knew what strengths He placed within me. He knew how much I could take, and He knew and knows what I could not handle. He knew me from my head to my toes and He knows me from my mind to my soul. He knows my spirit and He knows where I will spend eternity. You see God is not like a person that judges us from the outside in and assesses only bits and pieces of what he or she can see, He knows us, better, and more intently than we know ourselves, and the crazy part about that is even with all that He knows about me and you, and the changes we go through, the thoughts we think and the things we have done, He still loves us with an everlasting love!
If you are anything like me, you have people come into your life and tell you who they thought you were, and you believed them, or bought off on their definition of who they said you were, only later to realize they only defined you through their own deficiencies, issues and problems. But the damage was already done and you had to find a way back to who God really created you to be, who God formed you, and knew you to be. But there is a blessed assurance that our God knows us, loves us and defines us, through His will for us, not because of our lack or His lack of anything, because God unlike us lacks nothing. Don’t let people tell you who you are, or to be different than who God defines you to be. Know God, draw closer to Him and then you will know who you are, you will begin to know what you need, what makes you tick, what motivates you and what brings you into deeper relationship with God, yourself and with others. Knowing God will, surrendering to Him will cause you to want to yield to Him and fix what is wrong in His sight and be all that He desires for you to be! Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Of Him!
