Your Love Is…

Numbers 14:18-20 (New Living Translation)
18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But he does not excuse the guilty. He lays the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations.’ 19 In keeping with your magnificent, unfailing love, please pardon the sins of this people, just as you have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.”  20 Then the Lord said, “I will pardon them as you have requested.

As I shower and get dressed in the morning that is my praise and worship time.  Of course I have my music blasting in the bathroom.  Emphatically, I am a Fred Hammond fan; I love the anointing on his music.  Yesterday, Your Love Is by Fred came through the IPOD, and as I began to listen to the words, I began to stand there in awe of God and all that He, and the Love that He has for me is, my then praise turned into tearful worship, I could hear in my spirit “My love is so many things.”  I could do nothing but agree and think of the things that God’s love had been to me.   During the course of our lives and even our journey with God and our quest for a deeper relationship with God, we have a tendency to sometimes forget all that God’s love has been to us and continue to be to us…
I have often thought of how thankful I am that God’s love is forgiving.  If it had not been for God’s love through Christ having the affording us the ability to be forgiven, we would not be here today to speak about it.  Because God loves us so much He wanted to have a way to forgive us and bring us into right relationship with Him.  But the amazing thing about God’s love is not just the fact that it is forgiving but when we did not deserve forgiveness, He still gave us the best that He had to bring us into forgiveness.  His love though, does not just forgive, after an offense, but His love forgave before, the offense ever took place. He knows all about us, to include the number of our days, he knows what we were going to do before we did it and the choice we would make, but yet it was God’s desire that we be forgiven and not perish. The other amazing attribute about the forgiving nature of God’s love is that He will forgive us and forget it. He isn’t like us, He won’t let us ask for forgiveness, then say that He forgives us and then keep throwing it back up in our face anytime we do something that He may not like, or when He feels that we are getting to big for our britches. God’s love forgives and then, throws it into the sea of forgetfulness to remember it no more! HALLELUJAH!!!
God’s love is monumental, it is extraordinary and it is amazingly forgiving. It gave us forgiveness before we even existed and before we even knew that we needed it. God loves us enough to forgive us no matter what the offense, and no matter how many times we fall short as long as we acknowledge our sin and we are truly repentant.  I am so glad that God’s love has amnesia; He doesn’t hold my past infractions against me.  As quick as I plead for His love and forgiveness He gives it, He doesn’t have to ponder it for an hour, a week, a month, a year, He gives it to me in an instant, and He throws away even the smallest reminder of that sin.  I am so glad that God’s love is forgiving to the point that His love will induce mercy to triumph of justice! I am so thankful His love forgave, forgives and keeps forgiving!
