It Isn’t Really Mine To Begin With…
Jeremiah 10:23 (Amplified Bible)
23O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.
Today, as has become a habit, I was pondering my life. As I did so, I heard a song we sang, in church on Wednesday night at Bible study, entitled “Be a Worship,” by David Frazier well up in my spirit. The chorus or the hook, says, “my life is not my own, but it belongs to you to worship you alone.” I have tried so hard to rationalize, control, orchestrate, organize, mold, shape and learn my way into a place that I thought would be best, for me and even for my children, but it has only been in the last three to five years that I have come to know through many trials, tribulations and persecutions that my life really isn’t mine. Even being hurt and vowing never to love again, I had to resign that was not my choice to make, well I could, but because I truly am looking to please God and do His will I would have to move me, out of the way and become a true vessel of worship and a true vessel or honor that is able to show forth the Lords Glory and His will within any situation I find myself.
What if our focus really converted to becoming a worship? What if we really we cognizant of becoming that living sacrifice as is talked about in Romans 12:1? How would our lives change? I think (as in my case), we are sometimes so busy fighting becoming a sacrifice and fighting against becoming the servant that God is calling for that we also miss that we were created to worship and that very well may be the thing missing in our lives and the element that is causing us to struggle so much. If we are taking something that is not ours and trying to make it ours, mold it, shape it, create it into being something that we are not equipped to do or in a position to understand what is really is needed and how to obtain it, we will probably misuse it or not use it in the way in which it was intended to be used. If we can just come to grips with the fact that we are created for someone else and not for ourselves, that we have a purpose and it has little to do with us and everything to do with God, who is our creator and the one who is supposed to obtain Glory and Honor out of our lives. We should be showing forth an attitude that lets the world know that we serve a God who is greater than any problem, has the ability to provide regardless what the cost of living index reads or economist say, a God who is able to heal even when the doctor says they cannot. Our hearts should be affixed to the hills from which comes our help, because our help comes from the Lord, the one who made Heaven and Earth, and its occupants... We should have a Blessed Assurance that we are created unto good works and that the things we are created for transcend time and space into eternity and have the ability to caress the ears of heaven and to bring pleasure to our God’s heart and His sight.
Looking at our lives today, can we really say that our life really isn’t ours? If we can still lay claim to whom we are, and we can say we have created an image or a name for ourselves, we have not yet, come to realization that we are created to be a worship that how we live should be a form of worship that brings Glory unto God. Even if we do not understand our life, or what we are ultimately supposed to be doing, we should know who we are serving and who we are living for, and what people should see which the reflection of our God is! Let our lives be a worship, a praise, let it be beacon of hope that draws all who meet you, or even encounter you, in some small way to understand that we serve a mighty God and that we are sold out and Souled Out to God!
