Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Wednesday 10/13/2010)

Who’s Purpose Will Prevail?

Proverbs 19:20-21 (Amplified Bible)

20Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come. 21Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand.

Recently, God has been dealing with us about His will, purpose and design being done in our lives. Many times we are in a thought pattern that we have done something wrong, or that we are being rejected by someone or not good enough for a position, or we lack something, or that the enemy is at work in our lives. But what if it is not the enemy at all, what if it is not the people involved like we once thought, what if it is not anything lacking in us? Have we ever thought that God may be trying to get His will to be manifested in us…and that may require changing some things up that we think should be present or manifested in our life; it may even require the removal of some people, attitudes, mindsets or things that we have had, had our sights on or in our plans.

It is so strange that we say that we trust God and yet we seem to sometimes fight Him every step of the way. We question why He allows things to happen to us, and we even get mad at Him when we don’t get our way. We will go so far as to even throw a tantrum, when we think we can get away with it. We want what we want and we do not want anyone including God to tell us anything different. I remember the first time I read the story of Jonah, I thought what a knuckle head, here he was a prophet of God and did not want to be obedient to do the will of the Lord, and to carry out his purpose. I was thinking well that was kind of dumb of him to think he could avoid or hide from God, didn’t he realize God sees all and knows all as well. His unwillingness to go where God wanted him to go, landed him in the belly of a whale. But I soon found out that this is the plight of all of us at one time or another in our growth and progression with God. We all think something is wrong with people or with us and we do not want to do the will of God, or fulfill our purpose. Whether it is a conscious decision or not, it still happens, and we still run from God and His purpose by design. But just as with Jonah, God is going to win. He will interrupt our schedule, our agenda, our job, our marriage and anything else he needs to, in order to get us on track and on the road that He has deemed for us to be on.

I have a friend that works in the Jail and when an inmate gets out of hand they tell them you can go the Martin Luther King way or they can go the Rodney King way. It is the same way with us we can easy or we can go kicking and screaming, complaining, crying, and questioning all that is happening around us. It is just easier to pray as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Father not my will but yours be done.” It is not about us getting what we want or doing as we please when we say we are serving God and following after Him. It is about following even when we do not understand, and being thankful even when it looks as if it is something that may seem hurtful in that moment. If we trust God with our life we understand that ALL THINGS, work together to them that LOVE the Lord and are called according to His purpose, we see things and people being removed and things around us changing and we will understand God may be realigning our destiny to get us where we need to be. Just like Jonah, we are going to end up right where we need to be regardless of what detours we may take. God is going to get His way and His will shall be done, and His purpose fulfilled!
