Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Monday 10/11/2010)

Today’s Devotional Is Written By A Young Lady Who Has The Best of The Love Of A Young Man That She Will Exchange Vows With This Weekend: Tracy Koweh (Soon To Be Dixon)

Does God get your Best?

Deuteronomy 10:12 (Amplified Bible)

12And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you but [reverently] to fear the Lord your God, [that is] to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being,

Today's message in the music comes from The Emotions' song "You've Got the Best of My Love". The first verse says: Doesn't take much to make me happy and make me smile. Never, never, will I feel discouraged; Cause our love's no mystery.

This is my last Monday as a single woman, and although the wedding is set for this Saturday we still have mandatory sessions with our Bishop before he gives the okay to go ahead. One of the requirements for the last two session is a set of evaluations. I have to complete one for Shane and myself, and then he has to the same thing. We are not allowed to discuss the assignment until we are with our Bishop again.

I joked recently with Lisa that the wife questions, although fewer in number, seemed harder in content. The husband has questions like: does he hit you, does he provide, and does he pray for you? The wife has questions like: do you let him have the last word, do you keep your home clean, and do you represent him well in public. So as I sat and pondered how I could increase my answers on my self-evaluation :o), I realized the need for self-evaluations for our relationship with Christ.

Do we let God have the last word? Do we keep our temple clean and do we represent Christ well? Like the song says, does it take a lot to make us happy or can we just rejoice at the gift of life each day. Can God lay it on someone's house to treat us to lunch and we thank Him, or does someone have to give us a new car. If God is our first and greatest love, He should be getting our best. We should show Him love openly and the whole wide world should see it. Today check your score on your evaluation code, is God getting the best of your love?
