1 Samuel 15:23 (New International Version, ©2010)
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the LORD,
he has rejected you as king.”
I have a minor in psychology and have taken course pertaining to behavioral sciences, the cognitive and chemical things that govern our behaviors and how some behaviors that are extreme are illness. Recently in my prayer time I heard in my spirit to pray down the spirit of manipulation. I did not know why I just began to intercede. As I finished my prayer time, I was reading my scriptures and the Lord asked a question. The question was, did I realize that anytime someone does or says something with a focus and intent to invoke a response that benefits them, or causes guilt or feelings that will cause another to feel a specific way or to react in a specific way that is manipulation? I said no. After which I got up and immediately ran to find my mother to discuss it. We pondered the question and talked about the biblical and psychological inferences and then I did some research and study of words. I discovered in my research that manipulation for some people can become an art form, a practice; it is classified just like rebellion. Author Reverend Bill McLean wrote: “There are primarily three things that indicate the practice of witchcraft. Those three things are MANIPULATION, INTIMIDATION, and DOMINATION. If you remember nothing else from this article, remember those three words. Whenever you see these things being utilized, witchcraft is being practiced. They cast a spell on you.”
For some of us we have entered into living a life that is filled with manipulation, intimidation and domination, and are in denial about it or can not even see it because it is so deeply embedded in our character. We speak with the express purpose of invoking feelings of discomfort, or to make individuals feel inadequate, off balance, suffer pain or respond in a manner in which we want them to. We are casting spells on people through our behaviors, our words, our activities and even our placement of words when we talk. We do this to get our way, to retaliate and to subdue. But the scary part is we do not even realize the seriousness of what we are doing and that we have entered into a form of witchcraft and sorcery that is in total rebellion to God. We are running around quoting scripture and going to church every time the doors are open, but yet we are a practicing witch. We also do not understand that God’s spirit can not reside in a person like that and His anointing will not be on an individual that operates like this. Just as with Saul, when he entered into a place of rebellion he entered into witchcraft., God’s spirit left him and his throne (position) was snatched from him in that same hour. We have no clue what we are messing with and how it can, does and wil affect us and the lives of others.
If we want God’s blessings, God’s anointing, and God’s hand upon our lives, it is time to cleanse ourselves of all of these things that separate us from God and lead us to practice witchcraft over others. We have to purpose within ourselves to get real with God and let Him deliver us from our manipulative ways, words and behaviors that cause harm and destroy others and ourselves. For many of us this will be no easy process, because we have been a practicing witch for so long we cannot even remember when we did not manipulation, dominate and intimidate others by the things we do and say. But just because it is difficult it does not mean that it should not be done. God wants us whole, heal and delivered and in His presence and Him in our lives! It is past time to purge the temple so it is fit for God to reside!
