Grace Is Really Amazing…
John 1:16-17 (Amplified Bible)
16For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift. 17For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Every day that I live I understand that Grace abounds in my life. But it is every time I return from a road trip or traveling period that I realize all the more that I live under grace, and the grace that I live under is absolutely amazing. My sister drove going up for the first six hours, I get behind the wheel and am not there more than twenty minutes and a deer runs out in front of us. No, we did not even come close to hitting it that was grace. We went up to take care of pending family business, and got the run around and I was frustrated to the point of tears. I explain the situation to my uncle and he takes over and begins handling things and getting things in order, grace once again. Last night I was concerned that time would not be afforded to me to do everything I wanted to do before I left, even though in my mind’s eye we were running late, we still arrived home before the time I had set And I got the things I wanted, that was grace again; my uncle and auntie even treated us to lunch, God’s grace once again. I had friends and family that texted, called to check on us, prayed, encouraged us as we struggled to get things accomplished and loved on us as we traveled, again Grace, grace, in action. But most importantly with traffic, accidents and wild life we made it there and back without incident, God’s grace was amazing, and it is always like an umbrella that covers me.
All too often we are waiting for some magnanimous occurrence to happen before we realize that God’s grace is in action around us. We forget that just by virtue of the fact that God sent Jesus to die in our stead and gave us a chance at salvation and eternal life that within itself was God’s grace which is defined as God’s unmerited favor, was bestowed upon us. We neglect to see that we are living under grace, for when we act the plum fool and we deserve punishment mercy is present each day and grace accompanies him and shelters us from what we often deserve. God’s protection that keeps us every day as we go to work, or about our daily task, His love that suffers long with us when we make stupid choices , His strength that lifts us up and carries us when we cannot take another step; His power that heals, saves and delivers us when we are need. These are all examples of God’s grace working in our lives, covering us and keeping us.
There is so much we take for granted but, if we could only understand that without God’s amazing grace none of it would be possible. If we caught a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes that makes our lives livable, makes our task doable, our goals reachable, our diseases healable and makes God’s use of us achievable, we would know it was God’s grace in action in our lives that affords us these things. We would look at our day and understand that “if it had not been for the Lord on my side where would I be.” Just remember this, God loves us, without condition, and desires to dwell with us, if that is not Grace that is amazing I don’t know what is!
