Fear Of The Fight….
2 Chronicles 20:16-18 (New Living Translation)
16 Tomorrow, march out against them. You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!”
18 Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground. And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same, worshiping the Lord.
I remember a time when I was younger and I had been threatened by a group of girls. I remember the fear that gripped me as I thought of going to school, and all during the day as school progressed. I was afraid because there was only one of me and a group of them, or so I thought. It is funny how God has your back even when you think you are all alone. As the day went on, some things transpired and I ended up in the office. I guess word had gotten out, are our principal did not play that, so he intervened before it could go any further. Although I had to put up with nasty looks, and even a few words said behind my back, that group of girls never came near me. Not only that many others became associates and friend instead of my enemies. It is ironic that when we are placed in a position to have to fight for the promises of God and the destiny that He says is ours, we forget, who we are and more importantly who we belong to and who goes into battle with us. We forget that literally the battle is not really ours and that all though we must show up for battle and man the post that is assigned to us, that God goes out before us. God is the greatest weapon that we have. The Word of God isn’t called the Sword of the Spirit for no reason. God has given us a battle plan that brings victory, because He designed the plan and knows every plan, plot and move of the enemy, so He can foil even their greatest plan. All we need to do is be obedient, follow His directions, His lead and to believe that He is able to do anything but fail us. We need to understand that God is a great strategist and He is General that leads us into battle and gives us victory every time if we would only seek Him, out and depend upon His leadership. Most of the time we enter into fear because we have no idea how we will win, or how we will survive, but with God He is the sure fire plan that gives us all that we need to defeat every foe, overcome every obstacle, win every battle and enter into our promises.
Psalms 27:1 says, “The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” There is no need to fear, if we are seated in Jesus and God is our Lord and our lead. God is the master of our destiny and the controller of our fate, we need not run from the fight because the battle is imminent, but we need to understand that the victory is as well. We don’t have to fear the fight, because God is with us. He goes before us to guide us, and He also stands between us and every enemy. We only need to trust that He can do all that He has said He will do for us, and that ever promise He has told us belongs to us is ours. That He is our strong tower that we can run into Him and be saved, that He is our Victory personified and our destiny manifested. We only need to Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct (make straight) our path (Proverbs 3:5-6).
