Today’s Devotional Written By Someone Reaching and Aspiring To The Will Of God: Mrs. Tracy A. Dixon
Your “Business” is My “Business”……
When it’s Blocking My Blessing
Proverbs 27:17 (New Living Translation)
17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
Today’s message in the music comes from Salt-N-Pepa’s song “None of Your Business”. The chorus of the song says: If I wanna take a guy home with me tonight. It's none of your business. And if she wanna be a freak and sell it on the weekend. It's none of your business Now you shouldn't even get into who I'm givin' skins to. It's none of your business. So don't try to change my mind, I'll tell you one more time. It's none of your business.
The past few months have really been an exposing season for me. Not exposure of anything bad, but of my faith and belief in God. I’ve been “living loud” as our Bishop would say. What still amazes me is the mentality of some Christians. Some of us are still playing with God. We living these double lives, thinking it’s not going to catch up to us. I find that that closer I’m getting to God, the farther from people I’m becoming.
I laugh at some of the justifications we as Christian’s have to make our particular sins okay. I cringe at some of the confessions and explosions in the kingdom right now, and I find myself pulling away more and more. I asked a co-worker the other day this question: Who is in your circle that when God looks down and gets ready to bless you, He has to pull His hand back? Who are you allowing to be in relationship with you that are intentionally living contrary to God’s will? Whose business are you so busy “not judging”, that your bringing down God’s judgment on you? We are so quick to quote, “He that is without sin”, but what about the other scriptures.
When are we going to stop quoting the Word, and start living it? When will we stop having sex before marriage, babies out of wedlock, affairs with married people, lying and backstabbing each other, living sexual and spiritual lives on the down low, taking God’s grace and mercy for granted and not paying our tithes? When will we stand in boldness and correct our brothers in sisters in Christ in love? How long will we continue to turn a blind eye in the Church? It’s time to clean up our temples, and then our circles. We need to be about the Fathers business at all costs. You are the company you keep, look around and see who’s the blessing blocker in the group………….or is it you?
