Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Thursday 04/21/2011)

He Is Closer Than You Think…

Psalm 139:5-10 (Amplified Bible)
5You have beset me and shut me in--behind and before, and You have laid Your hand upon me.  6Your [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high above me, I cannot reach it. 7Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence? 8If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there. 9If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.

Earlier yesterday I received an email notification that I had received a message on Facebook, so I pulled up Facebook to see who had written to me.  As I got to my home page or the wall as they call it, one of my daughter’s friends that is connected to me, had written on his wall, that he was hurting, and one of his friends asked was he okay, he responded by saying no that he was all alone. My heart hurt for him…I know this young man and I know his family dynamics and some of the adjustment issues in which he has encountered. I said a silent prayer and wrote a quick note that simply reminded him that he was not alone, because God was ever present and loves him.
Feeling empty, alone and hurting badly because of it can be a heavy load to bear.  It can weigh us down and make us fearful, scared, angry, and even make us sometimes question our purpose.  It can cause us to think that this life and the people in it are far from worth our time and effort.  Some will even question their existence, and if life would be better without them.  When God gets silent on us or we feel as if He has removed himself from us, more than likely it is we who have removed ourselves from Him.  There is absolutely no place that we can be or go that God cannot reach us or love us.  But it is us that chooses to live a certain way, that carries us out the presence of God. It doesn’t even have to be sin, in our lives that does this, it can be someone, that treats us mean, or demeans us and we allow those words to get into our heads and makes us feel that we are less than deserving or a good person.  It can be something as simple as a thought that we allow to stay one minute too long, or an area that we have been struggling in that we see someone else get the victory in and we become despondent instead of celebratory because we have waited too long. It could be family dysfunction, workplace drama or church hurts that takes us out of the reach of God’s comfort and makes us feel as if we are going it alone.  But God is closer than we will ever know!  He is only a touch and a whisper away from us, but because of our circumstance we have forgotten that He desires fellowship with us and is never far away, it is us who are looking in the wrong direction.
We can never go where God cannot see, heal, or deliver. No matter how depressed we may be or no matter, how down and out that we get, how broke, busted and disgusted that we find ourselves God can still see us at the point of our needs and He can still comfort us if we would only focus on Him and not on what is erupting around us, or what we have chosen to abide in.  If we would only reach out and touch the hem of His garment we will be made whole.  We just need to reach for him, and I am sure you will be surprised to find that He is closer than you may have anticipated. God is right there wanting to love and comfort us. He is right there wanting to embrace us and protect us. He wants to take all of our cares away, and to soothe the fears that have kept us separated from Him.  He is close enough and it is truly His desire to give us the strength to walk away from the things that have drawn us out of His presence that are not His will and in His plan for us.  He wants to touch us and love us in such a way that we have no fear of people or their words because we know of the love and power that cover our lives. We understand who we are, whose we are and the supremacy of who covers us and stands with us.  No matter what is happening this day or any other, no matter who does or does not like us, or no matter how many times we have side step the will of God, No matter how many times we have been hurt, betrayed, looked over messed over and stepped on God loves us and He wants us to be more than okay. He wants us to be Hus righteousness, His reflection and His revelation that is manifested and seen here in the earth.  So never forget, when you feel out on your own or all alone; you aren’t God is closer than you think, and He loves you more than you can ever even begin to imaging!
