Who’s Doing?
Matthew 21:42 (Amplified Bible)
42Jesus asked them, Have you never read in the Scriptures: The very Stone which the builders rejected and threw away has become the Cornerstone; this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
God has blessed my daughter to be in a strange season. As we spoke today, about some things that are up coming, and the arenas that she is entering, it was a miracle that she was so calm, cool and collected. It was a miracle to hear her speak, of the open doors and miracle of God and God doing some things in her life to set the pace a break some things generationally. But one of the things I was listening for never came. I was waiting for her to say “I.” I was waiting for her to have a momentary lapse, and be a normal eighteen year old that was smelling herself because of what God was obviously doing in her life. But she never went there, she smiled at me as we drove to Norfolk and she said “Mom this is God’s doing.” I wanted to cry for more than one reason, first because that was what my Grandma James used to say often, “It is God’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.” Secondly, because in that moment I realized that she recognized God , and His power at work in her life, and self was not present.., Now that was marvelous in my eyes and my heart!
It is so easy for us to come into a place of blessing, a place of anointing, a place of elevation, a place of influence and we lose sight of who is doing it. Who’s really moving the mountains, and giving us favor. We feel because of our involvement somehow, it is about us, but it really isn’t, during my conversation with my daughter, she reminded me that God could use a donkey that He can choose to use whomever He chooses, that He just graced us to be chosen; it has little to do with us, and everything to do with God. We need to begin to recognize that God will use us not because of any good deed of our own, but because He chooses to use us for His purpose and His plan. We need to understand as well that in the process of God accomplishing His work in and through us that He may be trying to use us to change the very generational pattern of our family, break things in us, and recreating a newness in us, based upon His will, His heart and His character. To understand that it is God’s doing and not our own is an important part of us maturing; it allows God to see that we will faithfully guard His glory and His reputation, not our own.
You see the truth is when GOD DOES A THING, it will be miraculous, it will not always make sense in the scope of human reasoning, and it may come more suddenly than sudden and quicker than quick. But it is our ability to recognize where the power source is and who is the behind the scenes coordinator and orchestrator of all that may be transpiring in our life that is good, great, edifying. We need to submit ourselves to a process of honor and humility to the Heart of God and His miraculous works of God through us. Knowing and understanding God’s work and His amazing Grace keeps us in a place of honoring Him and lifting Him up and giving Him all the glory!
