Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Monday 08/02/2010)

Today’s Devotional Is Written By One Calling On His Name: Tracy Koweh (soon To Be Dixon)

What Would Your Neighbors Say?

Matthew 5:16 (Amplified Bible)

16Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.

Today's message in the music comes from the title of Trey Songz record "Neighbors Know My Name". A few days ago a friend's husband posted a seven minute video of a toddler girl praying. It was so cute and funny to listen to this little angel call the name of Jesus of declare healing and salvation over her family. As she prayed her mother encouraged her and praised God with her. It was amazing how clear that little baby spoke and the understanding she had already began to obtain as such a early age. Someone had screamed His name before her through their words and actions.

About a week ago I had a small disagreement with my oldest sister who is one of my bridesmaids. The issue was because she wanted to wear her tattoo in my wedding. I calmly told her that would not be a problem but she would not be wearing it in the bridal party. She got upset and before the conversation got ugly I hung up the phone. She called back and replied: "I know the Christian didn't just hang up on me". It hit me that somewhere in her life, my words and actions had screamed His name before her.

Last month when I picked up Jaida from preschool, her teacher made the comment that every Monday morning Jai says she went to church. She says Hallelujah throughout the week and "You better Praise Him right now". We went to the movies last night and she said she wanted to pray before we ordered the popcorn. In the course of her three years on Earth, she has had a model of people screaming His name through words and actions.

Two months ago a friend we met while ministering to Dani and Kenny said that he was pleasantly surprised to see Shane's expression of his love and faith at such a young age. His OPENLY fasting, praying, giving, sacrifice, words and actions, screamed His name before those God had allowed to be witnesses.

Today as you begin a new week, check your words and your actions. Are they lining up with each other, or sending mixed messages. Are they lining up with the word of God, or is the world your god? Do your co-workers, friends, family, sorority sisters, frat brothers, golf buddies, children and neighbors know His name because of you? Do your words and actions scream JESUS when you're sick AND when you're healed, when you're broke AND when you're in abundance, when you're down AND when you're up. Say it loud, "You love and serve God, and you're proud". Happy Advertising.........
