Time to Raise our Voices!!

Today's message in the music comes from Bob Marley's song "Get Up, Stand Up". The chorus of the song says: Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights! Get up, stand up: don't give up the fight!
The past few weeks the world has watched the people of Egypt stand up for what they believed. They didn't let the government, the media, the opposition or the fear make them stand down.
When the president of the country finally stepped down, the celebration could be heard miles away. They had stood and endured. They raised their voices until something happened. As I followed the headlines day by day, and saw the number of protestors grow, my heart was saddened: where were the Christians in America? When they suggested taking prayer out of the schools, where were we? When they suggested taking Christ out of Christmas, where were we? When they suggested giving the right of holy matrimony to same sex couples, where were we?
I guess we were doing what Christians do, hiding in a corner somewhere praying. The Bible says that faith without works is dead. When do we sound the alarm for all the Christians around the country to take a stand together? One body, one voice. When do we as Christians begin to have real influence in the country, in the world? When do we stop letting the world set the pace and make the calls. Our money says: in God we trust but nothing about our country is showing that. The gays marched for their right to marry. The tea party rallied together to spread their hatred. Everybody but Christians have taken a stand in this country, and God is not pleased.
Today is a day that people will be expressing how much they love each other. What greater way to express our love to God, by standing up for Him? We've some how made our voice sending emails to each other to sign to make a difference. We've made meeting in church for small prayer groups, doing our part without ever stepping out into the community. God is not in heaven smiling down on us closet Christians. He is looking for a group who is not ashamed to live and declare His Word. There is no compromise when it comes to the principles and commandments of God. So today decide which side of this walk you wanna be on, and stand up for it.
