I So Appreciate It…
Psalm 63:3-5 (New Living Translation)
3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! 4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.
Today as I was heading to a business meeting I wanted to bring myself into a posture of readiness, so I put in a Joanne Rosario CD as I drove to my destination. My heart was full, and my mind was geared towards God. I knew that I needed Him to be in the midst of this meeting, and to give me wisdom to know what to do and how to do it. When a song came on, and the words said “I appreciate…The love of You…That cares for me…So kind and true…If I have to cry…You're always there…I appreciate You, Lord I.” Immediately my heart filled with thanksgiving and I felt the very presence of God. I began to think on how good God has been to me, how he has kept me, and held me in the very palm of His hands in spite of what others have done or said. Even in spite of what I allowed and did myself. In those moments, how could I not feel anything but gratitude for the love that God has shown me?
Most of us never associate being loved and having love with being appreciative. Many of us take for granted the love we have and the love that is given to us. I am not just talking about the love that we get from people (although many times we do lack appreciation for the love that people give us) but more over the love that God gives us. How often do we look over our lives and realize how much God really does love us, and how much Jesus loved us to go to Calvary for us? How often do we wake up and realize God loved us so much that He allowed us another day, another opportunity another chance to get it right or do it better? How many times when we walk across the room do we realize that God loves us enough to allow us to have the activities of our limbs and to be in a reasonable amount of health and strength? How often when we turn the key to the door of our homes or vehicles that we realize that God favored our life enough with His love to provide for us and bless us with material things that not everyone has? You see it is not often that we take the time to evaluate God’s love towards us and how good He has been, and often we show our appreciation even less.
If only we could see that God’s love is the most powerful force at work in our lives, because without it we would be in trouble and a lot worse off than we are. We would be without a lot and most of all we would be without the ability to receive forgiveness and salvation that affords us eternal life! Today, as we go about our daily work and task, with each accomplishment and ability, take the time to think of who made that possible and when we do, take a moment just to say thank you. Make it a priority to give God the appreciation that He so richly deserves. If we can scream and shout at a football game, or talk back to the movie scream, why can we not use our voices to give God praise to tell Him “Thank You” for all He has done and all He is doing for us. God is a good God and He loves us more than we could ever even think to love ourselves. Appreciate Him for the love He gives, for the love He has given and for the love that surely He has yet to give, when we embrace another day!
