You Still Have Not Figured It Out Yet…
Acts 17:24-28 (New Living Translation)
24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. 27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Earlier today I shared with a friend that we seldom realize in truth God is all we have, because we are so busy living our lives the way we think that it should work. We are so busy trying to fix things within our limited means, without even thinking about God. I remember how I use to try to be the mediator, the cure all and the one who fixed everyone and everything. But all I found was I was exhausted and frustrated because nothing was getting fixed because I was trying to do it in my own strength and power. This was when I some years back fell into depression and found myself in a place of despair and hopelessness, I realized so many people who I thought would never turn on me, had turned on me, and left me in the worst place I had been. It was in those days I came to realize God was all I had. But it was then I realized He was all I needed too, because it was by His hands that I was healed and by His word I was restored and made whole! It was by power that I was provided for.
There is a song that fell in my spirit today that we sing in church, by Hezekiah Walker entitled, You’re All I Need. The words say, “You’re all I need, every breath you breathe through me. You’re all I need, let your rivers flow through me. You’re all I need.” We don’t realize that God is the author of all that we are and that is the reason that we even have life to begin with. We do not take the time to understand the vastness of God, because we are busy limiting God and putting Him into the frame work of humanity, which has never contained Him and cannot encompass His splendor. We have not figured out that God is the all in all things and the every in everything, that is why we miss the fact that He is everything and all things that we need! We have such a hard time grasping who God really is, because of our humanity. We try so hard to reduce everything into time and space and God is not limited by either. So instead of realizing God for who He is, we hold on to the need to control our lives and we do not surrender who we are to God, because we cannot see that God could be that significant to handle everything within our lives, big and small, significant and insignificant. God is not limited like we are, He has all power in His hands and He is the very one that spoke the world into existence. He did not require help, to do anything that He has done thus far, to include the creation of you and I. God has all, and is all, if we could just see that we would see by accepting Him, surrendering to Him is all we need to be in the best place and the best shape we could possibly be in.
God is all we need, because in the right circumstances He can become all we have. When mother, father, sister, brother and friends forsake us God takes us up. He is the one who fashioned us and knows just what we need even when we don’t. He is the one that can fix that hurts that are so deep that no one could ever see. He can deliver us from generational pains that go back hundreds of years. He is all we have to make it right and the sooner we realize that, the sooner we will realize He really is all that we NEED!
