Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Friday 07/01/2011)

Have You Become Your Own Dream Killer?

Proverbs 18:20-21 Amplified Bible (AMP)
20A man's [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil]. 21Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].

My daughter was sharing an idea for a business, in her excitement she was jumping over details that were important so my brother and I were stopping her and making her explain. She was getting frustrated and in those moments, because she felt we were ganging up on her, because we were giving her a taste of what an investor would do, she was ready to give up and throw up her hands and walk away. There was a time when I was sharing a business idea with someone I perceived that was a friend, and she had nothing positive to say, I was so despondent I said I give up.  I have talked to young women that have desired a mate and because mister right is taking too long they make comments like, “I guess I will just be an old spinster woman with a hundred cats.” I heard so many people draw their own sword and fall on it, with the words that they speak or the attitudes that they exhibit. They have become their own dream killer!
God wants us to dream big, and He wants us to walk in His blessings and His abundance, but all too often we are the ones that put on our mouth on it and kill it, or we let people come in that do not qualify to speak into our dream cycle and we just share what God has placed upon our heart and because of jealously, insecurity or they are just not meant to go forward with us.  Our frustration can cause us to adopt a thought pattern and then an attitude that will cause us to begin to speak in negatively and that will add addition poisons to our already tainted thinking.  My brother a few years ago pulled the family together, to talk to about positivity and purpose.  He spoke from his heart, about how a negative attitude can rob us of progression and success.  I sat in those moments listening to him, thinking he is right, but how do we break the cycle.  Just recently my daughter was in a place over something that was going on in her personal life, someone had said something to her and instead of considering any other alternative she defaulted to negative thought, I stopped her mid-sentence and said well, let’s try this, let’s look passed your past experiences and give this person the benefit of the doubt, and evaluate the fact that they may have been having a bad day or been busy.  We can never stop killing the dreams that God inspire in us, if we never see that we need to change and we need to deal with our issues.  If we continue to take solace in our misery or in a place of negative thought we will continue to kill our own dreams, aspirations and goals. We should be able to look back over our lives and have lessons that have strengthened us not hardened us and made us so negative and uninspired or uninspiring.
What has been in your heart to do?  What dreams have you been dreaming?  What has been the vision that you cannot seem to break free of?  What are you doing to get there?  What are the words that you have been speaking over your life, your dreams, and your vision? Have we taken such a negative approach to life, that we have begun to assassinate our hopes and dreams because we can’t overcome the barriers of our past experiences, have we become so frustrated and so unfocused by circumstance that we are planning the funeral of our dreams?  Have we just allowed the wrong people to become the keepers or investors in our dream cycle that have no place there?  Have we haphazardly stewarded our dreams so that we have left God out of the mix and not allowed Him His rightful place?   God is a God of order; He should be the first one we seek where our dreams are concerned.  We should ask Him to guard our hearts and minds in order for our mouths to be kept from becoming a weapon of mass destruction that will annihilate our dreams, the potential and the people that are supposed to come with it.  It is time to come out of that negative headspace into a place of Blessings and positivity where God abides. It is time to put away the stinking thinking and move on with the task of the day that will get us where God desires for us to be and where our destiny and purpose lies.  Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.”  The waiting does not define the dream, the vision or the person, God can if we let Him…Hold on lift up your head and make a choice to stay abiding in God and determined to have a positive attitude as you go through the process and accomplish the journey that leads to your dreams!
