Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day (Wednesday 07/13/2011)

The Street Lights Are On…Is It Time To Go In?
1 John 5:18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
18We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sin, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ's divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him].

I saw a post on Facebook that reminded me of the structure the generation in which we grew up abiding under, It reminded me that we did not have to be told to come in from play there were signs that allowed us to know that our time of play and recreation were over and that was when the street lights came on.  The light of the day made all things visible and our parents felt that their children were safe, but when the darkness came and placed limitations on what could be seen, most parents felt the need to protect their children from the unknown.  In order to do this, these parents mandated that children be inside of the house which was seen as the covering or place of protection.  It was in the house that we were watched and parents could more closely supervise our activities and monitor our whereabouts.  There were few occasions that if our parents were outside or if my mom was close to the front door she may allow us to stay out passed dark, but that was not consistently the case, because there was a method and an order to keeping her children safe, protected and away from any potential harm, and that was to ensure they were in a safe place where she could protect them.
We often equate or call God our Heavenly Father, which is our spiritual parental figure.  The Bible reminds us that if our earthly father seeks to give us good things how much more will our Heavenly Father.  But the problem often is we do not think He knows what is best nor do we see His methods as ones that benefit us; we often just think He is being unreasonable or difficult.  In is then that we often will see it getting dark, or we see the street lights coming on that tell us to run to Him for protection but instead we stay out of the shelter of His love and will. The problem is that sin is fun, and it often feels good and appeases the flesh, but we don’t understand that we are outside after dark, unaware of all the potential dangers that are associated with our choices and our behaviors.  We would rather take our chances getting hit or snatched up, by the enemy and his devices then to be in subjection to the will of God.  We always quote the scripture obedience is better than sacrifice, but we rarely abide by it, because we prefer the recreation to the re-creation. We would rather pacify the flesh then to adhere to the Spirit of God within us, unctioning us to do the right thing, to go in and be protected by obedience and reap the benefits of God’s word and His anointing.  We are so bound by time that rarely do we think of anything outside of what we can see, feel, touch and smell.  But everything we do and say has eternal consequences.
For some of us, we see that the street lights have come on but we are still playing and in refusal to come in.  But I remember the few times when my mom had to come out and get me and make me come into the house where there was protection, those events were embarrassing, and would result in punishment or being denied the thing I wanted most which was to be blessed with the ability to have fun, and enjoy life.  For those of us who are still playing around and God is calling us in from sin or compromise, it is better to go in on our own than to have Him have to come get us, it is in those times that we see circumstances and situations hit our lives that are hurtful, or we are denied things that we really desire. Our disobedience or our need to want to live for the right now and for “us” instead of Him will yield us more trouble than that momentary pleasure could ever bring. Going inside where God is, where He can shelter and protect us provides us God’s love and salvation.  Yield to His calling and His will, He will keep harm from you and you from being harmed!
