Words Of Encouragement To Start The Day ( Monday 07/18/2011)

Can’t Nobody Love Me Like That…
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
Today’s message in the Music comes from Jill Scott’s song entitled “He Loves Me.” The Lyrcis say, “You're different and special; you're different and special… In every way imaginable… You love me from my hair follicles to my toenails… You got me feeling like the breeze, easy and free and lovely and new… Awww, when you touch me I just can't control it… When you touch me, I just can't hold it …The emotion inside of me, I can feel it… You love me especially different every time… You keep me on my feet happily excited.” When I was reading through these lyrics I could not help but think, wow that is the way I feel in the presence of God.  The way God loves me I can’t get from anyone else; He really does love us in a special way, unlike any human can.  As I meditated on love that has gone wrong and how easy it has been for people in my life that declared love for me to lash out irrationally and hurt me, for what appeared to me no apparent reason, or just plain selfish motivation, I could never say that about God, He has loved me consistently, in my good and my bad, when I have my A game on or when I am flunking. He loves me without condition.
It is ironic to me how often we are looking for what only God can give us in the arms of mankind.  Many of us will resolve to be mad with God because He has (what we think), passed over us in the area of human love, but if we would only take a minute and think of God’s goodness and think of all the things that He has done for us and provided for us that man could never do, we might rethink our position.  God never wants to go bed angry; He loves us enough to always want to work it out. God is always looking beyond our limitations and our faults and loving us in spite of them.  God loves us enough every day to provide us with new mercies and a clean slate to start the day on.  Even when we turn from Him, He still loves us, and is willing to take us back.  Then God loves us so much that He gave us His most precious gift in His son, Jesus.  How many of us can say that we have met a person like that?  Someone that no matter whether we are fat or slim, rich or busted, having a bad hair day or a good hair day, whether we are walking in obedience or not, whether we are angry or happy, whether we are in our right mind or out of it, whether we are sick, or healthy, God loves us like that. He loves in a way that His love became the model and the definition for true love, because He is love.
My mother use to say “stop trying to find love in all the wrong places.” Many of us are looking for the kind of love God has but we are in expectation that a person can give it to us, that a human can fill the place within us that is God’s alone.  We always find ourselves, still yearning or missing something even in relationships if we don’t first let God love us, fill us and teach us what His love is really all about.  You see His touch is like no other.  He can fill you up when you are empty and He can give your life when all in you seems dead. God’s love is a miracle and it has transforming power and life changing ability. It can change you and make you a better you.  His love can make it so you know who you are and it can settle you, and empower you. God’s love can complete us or make us over. God’s love really is one of a kind, because not only did He write the book on it, He is the book on it!
